Someone stole my week....

It's Friday again. Really?
Time sure flies when one is retired!
Hope you are all planning a fun and relaxing weekend with friends or loved ones.
DH and I are going shopping tomorrow for 'wedding' wear for our son and future DIL's wedding
in September.  We are going to have a 'date'.  Love it when that happens!

Thought I'd share a couple of things that haven't made it out here yet!
Sometimes, we just need something very, very quick. That's what I am sharing today.
A bit of patterned paper, solid cardstock, and a couple of stamps - voila!

I have a friend who was having some bad days - feeling 'invisible' or not important.
There is a great blog, Ginger's House, that offers free sentiments nearly every day. Just when I
needed something to cheer up my friend, Ginger posted this.
Perfect!  Just like my friend!
If you've never been to Ginger's blog, you really should go! It's full of fun :)

Used my Perfect Paper Crafting Mini Rulers for the beautiful matting on each of these!
Check out my sidebar for details.

This is also a sentiment from Ginger.  Another friend had been in the hospital for over six weeks.
I thought this would be fun for her.  On the inside, I wrote something pretty sarcastic, like
'enough is enough' - we miss you, or something silly - don't recall exactly.
Whatever it was, it made her laugh - that's what mattered!

This next card has an image from an old Gina K. Designs set, that I still pull out when I need a coffee related card.  Again, the sentiment is from Ginger.  A grown man we know is going through a pretty tough
time.  He drinks coffee from sun up to sun down, and usually ends the day with a
glass of wine or cold beer.  He's a pretty good guy, a good Christian, and
this sentiment just had his name written all over it.

Thanks for stopping by, have an awesome weekend!
I'm hosting a fun challenge next Wednesday,
and I can't wait until Friday when I show you some beautiful things
from the Die-Versions Christmas release!!!

Hugs & lot of smiles...

The Musical

Good morning!  If you are like me, you like music.  ALL music!  On any given day, I have music playing while I work.  My taste goes from hymns and gospel, to Aerosmith, and everything in between!  So, when the February new release at the Die-Versions store was 'The Musical', I couldn't wait to get my happy mail!  Here's the first card that I created with one of my new dies:

This card uses the Die-Versions Whispers "Rosy Music" #DVW-327.  I had seen 'piano' cards in the past, and thought it would be a great way to showcase this beautiful die.

To make this card, I just cut strips of white and black cardstock.  I outlined the white strips with a gray Copic marker to give them some depth (too much, actually!), and just adhered them to my card base. Added the black strips and a ribbon (left over from our daughter and son-in-laws reception last year) and voila!  What fun.  Since I'm a Chemo Angel/Senior Angel, I use a LOT of Thinking of You cards, so the sentiment was not difficult to decide on.

This next card was fun, too!  So often, we get these border dies, and use them only at the very top of a page. I recalled this fun row of spring flowers and sentiment from DoodlePantry.com, and thought that this die (Die-Versions DVW-335 "Music Waterfall")would be a perfect division between the image and the sentiment.

The flowers are pre-colored - the only addition is a touch of glossy accents on the orange flowers. I think you can see the shine if you enlarge the photo.
Of course, I used my Perfect Papercrafting Tools for the great mat!  Notice that I used two sizes!!!
I think this card will certainly brighten someones day, and I'm sure we are all ready to sing those songs of spring!

I hope you'll check out the Die-Versions blog for more beautiful samples using the February release dies!
We'd also love it if you would 'like' us on Facebook!
You can also watch videos of our dies on You-Tube!
And here's our Pinterest Page!

Pumpkin....

Good Morning!

I'm so excited to be guest designing this month for Laurie Wilson, and her wonderful team at Doodle Pantry!  I was a team member for a long time, and still look forward to being a guest now and then. It's fun to play with the delightful digi images that Laurie creates each month!

This month has a fall/winter theme, and for my first card, I chose the Pumpkin set.  The image I used is a pre-colored image.  I printed it a couple of times with heavy cardstock, and then fussy cut the image.

I first cut the entire image, then just parts - the pumpkin on the right, a couple of leaves, and the pretty yellow bloom, were all fussy cut, and popped up with foam squares for dimension.  There were several very nice sentiments with this set, and since I have been creating a healthier me for the past year, this sentiment seemed like fun.  If you look closely, you'll see that there is some Glossy Accents going on, too, for a look of 'morning dew'!

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you enjoyed this card - I should mention that the background is also part of the pumpkin set!  Pretty cool, right?

Please check out all of the new releases at the Doodle Pantry Store, and be sure to check out the Doodle Pantry Blog, for inspiration, and a monthly challenge!  You could win some of your own great images to design with, and there's usually a 'free with purchase' item!

Hugs...

Celebrate...

Good morning!

I'm the host for today's blog post at ScrapTownLady's blog, and I have a fun card to share.  No stamping.  Yep, none!  The ScrapTownLady store is sponsoring a challenge this week.  "Bird is the Word".  In this challenge, the layout sketch must be followed, and along with each sketch is a word that must be included in your creation.  The word for this challenge is "Celebrate".   To every mom or dad out there that has totally enjoyed summer vacation with their kids, but is also totally excited that school will soon be in session, this one's for you!

This card went together so quickly!  The sentiment is computer generated.

And here is the sketch:

If you participated in the fun at Bird is the Word - you could win a very nice gift card to the ScrapTownLady store.  Hopefully, while you are out and about, you canl stop by the ScrapTownLady blog, and become a follower!

Designer's Tip:  You can have a beautiful coordinating sentiment like the one on my card, anytime you like.  Just type and print what you want in your word program.  Adhere a piece of patterned paper directly over the word, and print again. Voila!

Thinking of you...

Good morning!  Today is my day to post for the ScrapTownLady Blog. I can't believe what a great variety of stamps she carries in the ScrapTownLady store!  I chose to work with this fun Stampendous image today. Just thought something a bit 'girly' seemed like a good plan.

This image was so much fun to create with. I wish you could see it in real life.  There's a touch of sparkle, lots of gloss, and a nice, rich color.  The color was painted on, using Tim Holtz Distress Inks, and a water brush.  Reminded me of being a kid, and playing with my watercolors!  Painting was great therapy, too, as it's been a week of sadness, having lost a friend to cancer. KaiserCraft makes such gorgeous papers, and it was fun searching for just the right combination - it needed to look elegant, a bit vintage, and even a little sassy!  Used my Perfect Layers Rulers for that beautiful 1/8" white border (see sidebar for details). Hope you will head over to the store, and purchase this stamp yourself.  Can't wait to see your creations!

ScrapTownLady Supplies:
KaiserCraft 6.5 x 6.5 'Lavendar Haze' Paper Pad
Impression Obsession Stamps (sentiment) 'Hydrangea Set'
Stampendous Stamps 'Cling Rose Corset'
Prima Flowers 'Pixie Vine Fairy Belle'
Tim Holtz Distress Ink 'Tattered Rose & 'Bundled Sage'
E-Z Runner Adhesive
Scrapbook Adhesive 3-D Foam Adhesive
Ranger Inkessentials Glossy Accents

Other Supplies:
Black & White Cardstock
Perfect Layers Rulers
Kuretake Wink of Stella 'clear'

Designer's Tip:  If you are using a stamp that is larger than any acrylic blocks that you have, grab one of your Cuttlebug Plates!  The stamp will stick to it perfectly, it will wipe clean, and you won't have to invest in a larger block!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Have a great day,
Patti J.

Flowers for You...

Happy Wednesday!

It's been a while since I've taken part in a challenge, and I love challenges!
Decided to participate in the "Flowers for You" challenge at Impression Obsession today.
When I checked my I-O drawer, it had very little in the way of flowers, so I improvised with embossed flowers, and the gorgeous bird complete with flower.

Impression Obsession Bird Collage 4 (#E13046), Impression Obsession Joyful Spring (#B5428), Spellbinder's Labels 28 Dies, Cuttlebug Embossing Border, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Copic Markers, Pearls, Glossy Accents

I stamped the flower several times, and just kept adding layers until it was popped up enough to suit me, and then generously applied some Glossy Accents for a bit of happy shine.  Wow, my pinks match very well here in real life - not so much, on the big screen!

I'll be entering this card here:

Impression Obsession Challenge - 'Flowers for You'
Through the Craftroom Door - 'Anything Goes'
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - 'Anything Goes'

You're Only as Strong...

Hello, and Happy Thursday!
As it's Thursday, it's my day to post on the Great Impressions Stamps Blog.
Today, I am sharing a couple of stamps from the December Stamps of the Month.
The first thing that I do each morning, is stumble to the coffee pot, so this stamp really called out to me!
The 'coffee' was embellished with a bit of Glossy Accents, making it look a bit more realistic.

Great Impressions Stamps: E-777 Only as Strong, F537 Steaming Cups

Many of our friends have been through some pretty tough ordeals, and I hope
this sentiment brings them a smile or two!  I stamped the sentiment twice,
putting one line on the front, and the rest on the inside.

Faith Wings...

Hello, friends!
Hopefully, your week is off to a good start!
Life is always good here...no complaints!

I needed a card for someone at church that is struggling with health issues, and thought I'd share it with you.

Stamps Used:  Impression-Obsession Faith Wings D13004, Bird Collage 4 E13046, and Tapestry Banner E8822

The banner was stamped three times, and colored with Copic Markers. These were matted with Bazzill cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped and matted, and framed with some bling from my stash. The bird was stamped twice, and colored with Copics.  I then fussy cut, and adhered the first bird with dimensional foam.  I cut out only the flower from the second bird, and added it with dimensional foam. A bit of Glossy Accents finished off the flower.  My Perfect Layers Tools finished my edges beautifully! (See my sidebar to check these out!)

The challenge at the Impression-Obsession blog is a "Your Choice Challenge", so I'm entering this card there!

Thanks for stopping by - have a great week!

Blessings,
Patti J.

Thanks for stopping by!  I apologize for being a bit idle on my blog.  I've been laid up again with a bad foot, and unable to get in and out of my craft room.  Hopefully, I'm on the mend!

Tires and.....

Hello, and happy Friday!  The weekend is upon us - woot woot!
We are looking forward to a night out with friends tonight.

So, today, I'm sharing one of those 'just for fun' cards.  I've been pushed with many necessary deadlines lately, and wanted to make something just for the pure fun of it.
Bugaboo Digi, Want2Scrap Bling, Perfect Layers Tools, DP from Scraps, Colorbok CS, Glossy Accents

Now, I bet that you just had to smile!  This is a Bugaboo Digi Image, colored with Copics, with a little bling, and some DP embellies from my scrap pile. Her glasses have a tad bit of Glossy Accents for some shine, and the flags and focal image are lifted up with dimensional foam.  My Perfect Layers Tools were used for the nice even mats! What a quick and easy card!
I think I'll enter it into the Bugaboo July "Anything Goes" Challenge!

Have a great weekend - keep smiling!
Life is good :)

What If Wednesday...Sketch J112

Wow - I've posted three days in a row!  Don't be expecting this on a regular basis...lol!!!
Goodness, this week is already half over, come on weekend...

It's time for another What If Wednesday Sketch Challenge at the Repeat Impressions Blog, The House That Stamps Built!
Repeat Impressions 9010-W 'Watermelon', Flourishes CS, Amuse CS, Ribbon from Hobby Lobby, Glossy Accents, Spellbinder's Oval and Oval Scallop Dies, Stampin' Up corner punch, Dimensional Squares

This month is truly kicking my behind, so I decided to do another CAS card.  The image was stamped, colored with Copic Markers, cut with an oval Spellbinder die, and matted on a scalloped red oval, also cut with a Spellbinder die. The card is white CS, folded in half with a black and white dotted (yep, those dots again) piece of Amuse CS as the background.  The dotted piece was punched with a Stampin' Up! ticket punch.  The red gingham ribbon from my stash, was tied around the background panel and the panel was adhered to the card.  The Watermelon was then added with dimensional foam, and some Glossy Accents were applied for that juicy watermelon look.

I didn't flip the sketch, but I stretched it...I'm such a rebel :)

Hope your week is going well, and I'd love to see YOUR card in our sketch challenge at The House That Stamps Built this week!  The challenge details can be found there, as well.

I know that you are eager for me to stop jabbering so that you can go check out what beauties my fellow Rockstars have created for you, so without further ado...

Happy Fall Y'all Blog Hop!

What fun!

The Clear Dollar Stamps Stamp Design team invited the Clear Dollar Stamps Digi Team
to participate in their Happy Fall Y'all Blog Hop this morning!

If you are just here visiting, you may want to go to Lori's blog, for the start of the challenge.  If you are on the hop, and have come here from Sarah's blog, you are in the right place!

For this hop, I chose to work with the Digi Set, Sweet & Spicy.  The background is some of Trudy Sjolander's fabulous design work!  Image, sentiment, and background paper can all be found at Clear Dollar Stamps.

The only embellies used were a touch of glossy accents on the apples, and some StampinUp! ribbon.  I tried to make this card pretty clean and simple.

I've kept this short and sweet!  (pun intended...)
Hop on over to Lisa's blog, to see what beautiful masterpiece she has created for you today!

Thank you for stopping by!
Have fun hopping!

Hugs,
Patti J.

Halfway through...

Good morning! Goodness, can you believe we are halfway through another month? Yikes! Time really does fly when you're having fun!

Speaking of fun - I promised a surprise today! A few weeks ago, I was invited to become a member of the Digi Design Team at Clear Dollar Stamps, and of course, I said yes! How exciting to be a part of this team. The ladies are all so sweet and helpful, and the digi images and rubber stamps at Clear Dollar Stamps are wonderful!

Today is a "New Digi Release Day" at Clear Dollar Stamps! I'm sharing two awesome new sets with you today. The first set was so much fun...I've never ever colored radishes before! This set, Vegetable Garden Outlines, comes with all that you see here.

There are so many possibilities for this set with gardens in bloom very soon!

What's in it: Clear Dollar Stamps Digital Image, Bazzill CS, Copic Markers, Gingham Seam Binding from JoAnn's Crafts, Basket from The Red Rooster, Floss from We R Memory Keepers, Spellbinder Dies, Glossy Accents
This set also comes in the pre-colored version if you need a card or tag faster
than you can color one :)

The second set I chose is a Flower of the Month set, Lily of the Valley. I used the Happy Anniversary sentiment, as it seems there is always an anniversary to remember. This set comes with everything you see below.

Here is my card:

What's in this one: Bazzill CS, Spellbinder Dies, Ribbon from Hobby Lobby, Copic Markers, Clear Dollar Stamps Digital Image

You can find these, and several more newly released sets in the Clear Dollar Stamps Store. Also, don't forget to stop by the Clear Dollar Stamps Blog to see them all in one place!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a great Wednesday...

Just Because...

I hope that you're all enjoying a relaxing weekend!

It's been very quiet here so far!
DH flew to Colorado to meet DS and DD and watch the Cardinal's play two
of their three games in Denver - what fun!
He's home now, so he and I will BBQ something,
and make a trip to the graveyards with flags and flowers.

Rosie the Wonder-doggie is still keeping us company.
It's going to seem very quiet when DD takes her home!

I decided to take part in a challenge today - don't faint!
I haven't been doing much of that lately, but I am going to try to step it up a bit!
I love C.C. Designs Images - I've never seen one that didn't just catch at my heart.
They make me think of my DD at a young age, and how can you not love that?

My card is for the Wednesday challenge at All That Scraps, which is to use felt.
Can you believe I had NO felt? Sheesh, what crafter has no felt?
I had to run into our local craft store to find a few sheets!
Anyway, my card features the absolutely darling Swiss Pixie Tulip Birgitta,
which can be found here.
I tried to keep this card very simple, and let the image 'shine'!

All coloring is done with Copics.
I used Glossy Accents on the butterfly and flower, and a white Sharpie Paint Pen to highlight. The felt was purchased at The Red Rooster Crafts store here in Farmington
.

Hope she brought a smile to your face!
You have until Tuesday to take part in the challenge!

Thanks for dropping by - hope to get by to see you today, as well!

Hugs and smiles,
Patti J.

Cherish each precious day! Each one is a gift - don't exchange yours unopened!!!

Sweet Ella

Good morning! Hope that all of you are well. Many of you got lots of snow last night - we had the tornado warnings, hail, power outages, etc., but we survived!

Colored with Copic Markers, DP - Echo Park, Image - By Lori Designs, Glossy Accents on center of bow. Ribbon from my stash!

I thought I'd play along with the challenge at By Lori Designs tonight. I colored up one of Lori's adorable images, Ella. Very clean and simple - just wanted to use this darling image tonight!

Have a great night, and thanks for stopping by!!!

Almost forgot!
Lisa Lara, if you are reading, you are the winner of my "Itty-Bitty" blog candy! Congratulations!!! Please e-mail me: mamagilliam@gmail.com
with your address, so I can get it in the mail to you!

Ever So Thankful...

Here is a card I made today with a new stamp set from The Angel Company. It's for a TAC blog hop. I'm not an angel, but I love their products. The coloring is all done with a watercolor blender pen and Tim Holtz Distress Inks. The leaves and letters were shined up with a bit of Glossy Accents.
Hope you like it - it didn't photograph nearly as pretty as it is!
Have a good evening!
Patti J.

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Good Morning!

Happy Sunday!
Hope the morning is going well for you, and that your day is full of blessings! As it's Sunday, it's a new challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ!

Our hostess is the fabulous Lisa Hjulberg!

She has chosen: "This, then, is how you should pray: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."
~Matthew 6:9-13

The challenge this week is to make a card/project that features prayer; either someone praying, or a verse about prayer, or a greeting that lets someone know you are praying for them.

Lisa's scripture was Jesus' response to the disciples when they asked Jesus to teach them to pray. There is no right or wrong way to pray - the best way for me is simply and quietly.

Our sponsor today is Layers of Color, who is generously donating a Flutterescent Clear Art Stamp Set! Be sure to join in the challenge this week - you could be the lucky winner!

My card today features an Art Stencil, and a free digi image, both from Layers of Color. I used Versamark Ink on the stencil (over cream cardstock), then embossed with clear UTEE. After heat embossing, I sponged on Bashful Blue Ink, from Stampin' Up. The sentiment is from TAC, and I used Glossy Accents on the Nestie Frame, and also over the entire bird to give them the same glossy appearance as the stencil pattern. I tried to keep it very simple so that the stencil was visible.

I hope that you like it! Hop over and look around at Layers of Color, and be sure to join in the challenge this week at Stampin' Sisters in Christ!!!

Hugs and blessings,
Patti J.
