Blog Candy from Florida!

This post is going to be different in that I'm showcasing someone else's talents tonight!

As one of our students at school used to say (remember this one Tami???) "Here's the story, morning glory".....

I received some blog candy in the mail today that I won a week or so ago on a cyber-friend's blog. As you can surley relate, it is SO nice to get real mail via snail mail. Normally, what comes through the Pony Express is usually, junk or bills. So, when I saw my DH lay down a yellow envelope, I said "OMG that's my flowers!" And it was!

Not only did I win the flowers, but they were wrapped in the cutest card! This little moose is almost hugable! Anyway, I have to post photo's! The coolest thing about this, is that I have been missing my mom the last couple of weeks. I know how much she'd enjoy what I am doing, and us having Melissa back home. Mom was an avid crocheter, and loved small projects like Tori's handmade flowers. So, when I saw her blog candy, my first thought was, "mom would love these"!
Please be sure to check out Tori's blog. She papercrafts, she fishes, she sews, she crochets, and she's still a baby! Just think what she'll be when she grows up - lol!!! You can find her at:

Tori, if you are reading, thank you so much!

It can't be...

It simply canNOT be Monday already! The weekend flew by much too quickly.

I spent most of it either on taxes, or on our monthly reports, but I did manage to steal a few moments late last night to 'play' a little with an old stamp I haven't used in ages.

One of my 'Angel' friends in the Windy City, prides herself on using scraps, which I don't do as much of as I should, so this card is entirely from scraps. NO new sheets of paper used here! Ta da, I can't believe I did it!

The black print is from one of the TAC printed paper packs, I think perhaps the Tuscany Spice. The stamp is an American Art stamp that I think I picked up years ago at Hobby Lobby. The felt flowers and brads are bargains from our Big Lots store! I used Palette Noir Ink, and colored pencils, and most fun of all....

I never knew punching holes could be so much fun! I punched and punched and smiled and smiled! It will take me a while to become adept, but I love the look! This was done using Stampin' Up's template from their Mat Pack.

Anyway, this was just a little something to keep my mind off of numbers for awhile, but I think she's just a cutie. Let me know what you think!

(I hate that I can't get the photo's to look flat and straight - my cards always look curvy and off centered - the green line really is straight!!! lol)

Have an amazing Monday! Just think, we're only about 8 hours away from having one day down!

Mmmm....cupcakes.....

Cupcakes seem to be all the rage these days! I saw a sketch challenge on Taylored Expressions that I decided to try. I'm not crazy about the way the card came out, but I'm going to post it anyway - lol!

I used white and orchid cardstock, and TAC Gentle Beginnings patterned paper. The large cupcake stamp is by Vap! Scrap (a $1 Michael's treasure!), and the sentiment is by Ann-Ticipations. The mini cupcake is from the "Party Time" set from The Angel Company. Inks used were Palette Noir, and Color Box Lavendar Que Chalk Ink. The EK Success Edge punch, silk flower, gemstone, and ribbon were just what I could find to finish it up!

I hope you are having a great weekend. It's cold and rainy here, with a chance for more snow (ugh...wish those newscasters would get rid of four letter words!). Here's hoping the white flakes will pass us by this time!

Melissa got her car back today and it looks beautiful! YAY for good bodyshops!

Have a great Sunday - it's monthly report time for me, so I will probably not be at the computer much.

Happy Spring!

It is finally spring! Of course, we live in Missouri, so it only stands to reason that it's rainy and cold! Go figure!

Anyway, in honor of spring (and a spring swap due tomorrow), this cutie patootie just screamed "stamp me, stamp me". What's a girl to do? I had to stamp him!

This is the "Little Stinkers" set from The Angel Company Serendipitiy Catalog. I colored his bibs with my Kooh-I-Noor pencils and Mineral Spirits. You can't really tell, but his little flower has been done with a yellow glaze pen, so it's shiny. The sentiment is from The Angel Company set, "Trendy Greetings". All paper is DCWV. I used the Martha Stewart edge punch for the sides, and the EK Success edge punch for the bottom of the red strip. Hope you like it!

Well, it was really tough getting up this a.m. - I stayed up too late last night! I think I'm headed off to get ready for snoozeland...

Hope to find a little time to craft tomorrow - 'cya' then!

Happy Sunday!

It seems to be a pretty day in Missouri so far - hope it continues, as I promised little white furball that we'd go to the park this afternoon if it didn't rain!

Melissa woke up feeling okay yesterday - another blessing! Thanks for everyone's well wishes! They are appreciated more than you know.

If anyone is having trouble commenting, please let me know. My good friend Tami that has commented all along, says that she suddenly cannot comment. If you have this problem, please drop me an email so I can try to figure out what is happening.

Today's card features a brand new set by the Angel Company, from their Serendipity catalog. It's called: Beautiful Day. The papers are also from TAC (Hemingway and Genevieve). I used my Marvy oval punches, and on the side, used the Stampin Up mini slot punch to make an opening for the ribbon to slide through. Coloring was done with TomBow markers. As you can see, I paper pieced the birds.

Hope you like it! Have a great Sunday!

Proud momma....

Sorry dear followers - there will be no card tonight! It's off to bed with us all. Today was a long day, and we are all tired.

We are so grateful and blessed tonight, that our dear daughter is home with us safe and sound.

She was traveling to work this a.m. in her Ford Taurus, when a 17 year old man in a '90 something or other Ford F150 decided to turn left into her. She was doing about 55 mph on Highway 8 toward Potosi when he hit her. What would have been a head-on, or full t-bone type of accident was avoided as...

She had time to react, and to swerve a bit, and she ended up in a ditch, and was not hurt. We are so thankful for that. The young man was driving into the sun, and just did not see her, and he felt terrible about hitting her. His front end apparently made contact with her driver's side from the front fender all the way down the side of the car to behind the back door. It could have been very bad...

The first car behind her could not believe that she didn't roll the car end over end, and applauded Melissa's defensive driving, as did the other couple of drivers that saw the accident, and the tow truck driver. All commended her reaction, and stated how badly things could have turned out had she not been so quick to respond.

The car has almost $4k in damages, but is fixable, and Melissa is okay as well.

Anyway, all is well, but it's been a long day - no time for blog hopping or card making tonight!

Take care all - see you tomorrow! Good night...

Work it Girl!

So, a very sweet, very nervous! young 8th grade lady that I know is trying out tomorrow evening for the high school dance squad. Dancing is her first love, and she is so hopeful that she will make it. I wanted to make something a bit cutsie and fun, but inspirational as well. I work with her mom, and this cute little flamingo just makes me think of her momma, Tess. She is always so peppy and has spunk, and attitude, and love for everyone. I couldn't resist this set for her daughter's card. So Ashley, we all wish you the very best of luck at tryouts!
The set is "Tickled Pink" by The Angel Company. The DP is also from the Angel Company. I used my Tombow markers to color, and a teensy tiny envelope that our daughter gave me a set of for Christmas last year that came from New York City!

Hope you like it!

Have a great Friday, and a super weekend!

Get Well Wishes

I have a friend at work that I've known for about 15 years or more. She was riding her horse the other day and took a bad fall. She's been at Barnes Hospital now for a few days, and when she's released in the next day or so, will be in a brace from upper hip area to neck area for a couple of months, due to fractured vertebraes in her back. I was thinking tonight that she may need a bit of cheering up... how could these cute little skunks from the new Angel Company Serendipity Catalog NOT cheer someone up??? The DP is also from the Gentle Beginnings Collection from the Angel Company.

Send up a few telepathic well wishes to my friend Paige when you have some time!
Shirley, have fun camping!
Good night all.....

Love the Verve...

Hello Friends!

I must admit - the Verve stamps that I received this week are wonderful. They smell nice (really!), they stamp nicely, and I love that they are clear. The only thing bad about them is that I don't have the time to 'play' like I want to, and they certainly make me want to do so!

I stole just a few minutes away this a.m. and used some two sided DP to get something very quickly made up. I used the Abundant Blessings Set, and one of the Plain Janes (I can do all things...). The ink is TAC India Red and Pallette Noir. The two sided designer paper is by BIO (By Invitation Only) and is another great paper that I picked up at O'Dear's. I only had about 10 minutes to spare, so did no coloring or distressing : -( and you all know that I LOVE to distress!

Hope you like it - I'll have more time next week to explore this set further!

Happy Sunday - God Bless!

I received my very first Verve stamp order today! I have to take poor Flake to the vet for her shots, but plan to play for a little while when I get home tonight! Don't you just love getting new toys in the mail???

Bee Happy...

You know, maybe I'm just a silly old woman, but I believe that you can only be as happy as you let yourself be! It doesn't take as much to make me happy as it used to! Give me a new tin and some cute papers and I can be happy for hours!

The tin below is from Oriental Trading Co.

The amazingly bright and cute papers are from TAC (The Angel Company).

The "Bee Happy" stamp, and the "Bee" stamp, and the little square are all from TAC as well. (Imagine ME using TAC products...)

The "With Love" stamp is from Hero Arts - I love their mini stamps!

I took some scraps and made a set of gift cards that match the tin. I think this makes a cute gift, and am going to make up oodles of sets for a craft sale in November. What do you think - will they sell???
Well, it's back to the grind for me! It's already been a long day. Manley Stanley got a phone call at 3:50 this a.m. calling him BACK to Branson for a water main leak, so it's going to be a very long day for him. Please keep him in your prayers - another night with only 4 hours of sleep and another 4 hour road trip keeps me worrying about him...
Well, I just took a break from TAXES to post today! I'm off to make another (our 3rd) pot of coffee, and get back to crunching numbers!
Have a super Saturday!

Mmmm....Chocolate

Hand over the chocolate and no one gets hurt!

I’d stop craving chocolate but I’m not a quitter.

I'd stop eating chocolate but I'm not a quitter.

In the cookies of life...friends are the chocolate chips.

Life...Liberty...and the pursuit of chocolate!

Some things in life are better rich...coffee, chocolate, men.

On that note:

Here is an 'oh, so quick' card for the Chocolate Lover in us all! Patterned paper is purchaed from the Red Rooster (sorry, don't remember which brand, this is just scraps...), as are the cute brads. Stamp is by Ann-Ticipations. I cut out a single cookie, and used pop dots so it would stand out. The ink is Color Box Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink, and the card is distressed with same.

Have a good day - think chocolate!!!

My First Blog Award...

So...I actually received my first blog award this week! Thank you Jacquie! However, I have tried just about everything, and can't seem to 'pick it up' and 'bring it over'. So, you will just have to belive that I was awarded, and the five of YOU that were to get the award passed down are just out of luck. Sorry! If any of you out there know what I am doing wrong, please feel free to back-seat drive!

Anyway, today's card is made from all Angel Company stamps and papers. As I sit here and look out onto my field and count 13+deer grazing, it seems a very fitting card to post!

Did anyone out there hear about the young man in middle school that started the 'no cussing' group, "Swear Off Cussing"? Pretty cool story - the boy started the program in his small middle school, and it has grown to 30,000 members all over the country! There is a kiddo with a future! He's now getting into public speaking, talking to kids in schools everywhere!

Have a nice evening - it's back to the paperwork grind for me!

Happy Monday!

One down, four to go! Then we will have another weekend to bask in!

First of all, to any who prayed for Melissa's day to go well - thank you! She had a wonderful day, very much likes the new job, the people she is going to be working with, and the facility itself is overwhelmingly beautiful. Tami, today's first day on the job ring was the cute black one with the white stripes through it! (By the way chicka, we have some beads for you!!!)

Next, I just have to say that I've done some blog hopping the last few weeks, and I am so amazed and impressed by the wonderful folks out there that share the same love of paper, ink, stamps, ribbon, etc. The talent that I have seen is just incredible - God is indeed very good! I am reminded how good with every page I turn in "The Shack", which is what I am reading right now. I highly recommend it!

This card is Cloud Nine Designs Cardstock that I purchased at O'Dear's. The stamps are Angel Company, and the punch is a Martha Stewart border punch. The ink is Color Box Chalk Ink (Chestnut Roan), which I stamped and distressed the flower and all paper with.

Hope you like it!

I hope to have time to play the OCC Challenge again this week, but I have a ton of paperwork to do. It was a lot of fun to do the last couple of challenges. Many times, I'll come out and sit at my desk and not have any inspiration for a project. The challenges give inspiration, and a reason to be creating! I enjoy swaps for the same reason!

Happy Tuesday, hope to see you all tomorrow!

In Like a Lion...

Sheesh! It's true! March has roared in like a lion - the wind here has been so fierce the last few days! I feel sorry for the folks in that Rolla to Lebanon patch that ended up with around a foot of snow. Brrr....

Anyway, Happy March 1st! I believe that anything is cause to celebrate, so I'm choosing to celebrate March 1st! For those of you that are aware of my countdown, I now have completely filled January and February. I seem to continue to be given the emotional strength to get through each day one day at a time.

With that in mind, I think I'll post a cheery card!
All papers and stamps are from The Angel Company. These Bitty Bugs are just too cute not to post now and then!
I hope that you are all having a wonderful day! Our Melissa starts her new career with the YMCA tomorrow, so please send up some prayers that God keeps her safe in her travels, and that her day is a good one!
(By the way, guess you all know that spring ball games are under way? YAY Carpenter -GO REDBIRDS!)
