Then and now...what a difference a few years make!

Good morning!

I'm still MIA, but wanted to drop in and say hi.

Today is a very special day.
45 years ago today, at 4:00 p.m. Central Time, I married my best friend, the love of my life,
and my partner in business, parenting, and everything in between.

Together, hand in hand, we have been through births, deaths, illness, good times,
and not-so-good times.  In 1980, when dear hubby sustained 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns
over more than 3/4 of his body, I thought I'd lose him, and I was terrified.  Thanks to God,
a very strong and stubborn husband, successful skin grafts, and a wonderful burn unit, we were blessed to weather that storm together.

We've watched our babies grow up into successful adults, and are proud of the goodness
and love of family in each of them. They have both married wonderful spouses, and have blessed us with 4 beautiful grandchildren. It's fun to watch their love grow with each passing year.

Life is so good!

I thought I'd share with you our 'then and now' photos, so you can see what a difference
45 years makes!

December 2017

Stan, if you happen to read this blog post, I hope that you know how much you mean to me.
Each year, our love grows, changes, and each year just gets better and better.  Let's see what the next 45 years bring!  Happy Anniversary - I love you!

Thanks, everyone, for putting up with this sappy post! Sometimes, you just gotta go with what your heart tells you, right???  I have to laugh - we had the latest photo taken for our church directory. I forgot to wear earrings AND neglected to put on any make-up.  Old age is my excuse for said forgetfulness!

Happy Saturday to all,
Patti J.

'Happy Birthday to Me' means Blog Candy to you!

Hello Friends!

Today is my birthday.
I'm not going to tell you my age, but I may or may not have been born in 1954.

As you all know, I am in DC, proudly and happily wearing my grandma hat this week,
but since it's my birthday, and since you've been so patient with me while I remodeled and, sewed, and traveled, I wanted to give some birthday gifts to some you...

Since this is our 4th grandchild, I'm going to have a random drawing for 4
'Itty Bitty Blog Candy' prizes!

To enter, just leave me a Happy Birthday comment below, and tell me a fun fact about you that I don't know!

I'll go first...

When I was a freshman in high school, I lived in Dolton, Il.  I was in a 'Miss Dolton'
contest, which was largely judged on our float.  Imagine my surprise (actually,
think about me hitting myself on the forehead, like the V8 commercial) when I lost
the contest due to a spelling error on our float!  Our Volunteer Fire Department float builder helpers had used Congradulations, instead of Congratulations 😲

So, I'm almost famous like Hillary! I got the most votes, but lost the 'Election' when the judges caught our spelling error! Wish we had a photo of the whole sign!

Oh, dear....look at that funky hair! Remember when the low part was the 'in' thing?
Probably not - I'm most likely the only antique in blogland :)

That's me on the right.

Now you know!

Hee hee...your turn.

Have a wonderful day - I cannot WAIT to read your comments!!!

All four winners will be announced on Thursday, April 12th.
Each of you will receive a padded envelope with something fun inside!

Thanks for coming to see me today!

More than one fold AND a surprise element!

Hello out there!

It's April Fool's Day, so for today's challenge at the Scor-Pal blog, we are adding
a surprise element to our creations.

I'll be sharing a box that I created. My inspiration came while perusing Pinterest.
You can find the instructions HERE.

WARNING: Photo heavy!

For this project, I used my Scor-Pal Eighths, a pair of scissors, 1/2" Scor-Tape, and 1/8" Scor-Tape.

Here is the box closed, shown from the top.

Here's the box closed, shown from the side. Each side panel has a cute panel.

I'm lifting the lid off here....get ready for the surprise element!

Drum roll, please.....I'm about to let the box 'explode'!
Note the teensy drawer 'knobs'.
There's also room in the center for nail polish, candy, a votive candle, etc.

Here is the box opened up.

Last, but not least, this shows the four drawers open and ready for treats!
I'm imagining hair bows, or fruit chews, or jewelry, or card games...
or papercrafty things!!!

The possibilities are endless!

Thanks for dropping by today.
Hope you enjoyed my little project!

This is not a difficult project at all, but it did take me about two hours to complete.

We hope that you will enter our challenge this month!
You need to include more than one fold, and a surprise element.
Can't wait to see your project!

We also have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to help you get creative!

All Things Bright...Reminder!

It's mid-month, and I'm here to remind you about the challenge over on the Scor-Pal Blog.

The challenge is 'All Things Bright and Beautiful'.

Here's another look at a cute box that I made to hold some Easter candy.  Some spring colored plaid paper and stamps were used on this project.
I used my 1/8" Scor-Pal Score Board, and 1/2" Scor-Tape to create
this fun box.

Hoping this one made you think spring, too!

Be sure to head over to the Scor-Pal blog and join in our challenge.
You need to have more than one score on your card or project, and use some
bright and beautiful colors!  Good luck!

Thanks for stopping by today,

Patti J.

Soon to arrive...Captain America!

Good morning!

I'm sure you recall that I was on-line very little in February.

As you know, we've been doing a bit of freshening up/remodeling in our family room.
This has entailed my refinishing of our brick fireplace with a six step finishing process, painting walls, and sewing curtains. Then, hubby and I hung new rods and new curtains (after he replaced windows!).  We also ripped up old carpeting, pad, and staples, and replaced with a pretty soft, plush

Here's a little something else that I was working on during that time!
Our daughter is very close to her due date with baby number three.  We know it's a boy,
but as with the other babies, we will be surprised with his name, after he is born, so
for now, mom, dad, and kids are calling the new baby 'Captain America'.
Each time there's a grandbaby born, grandma makes a baby quilt.
What better than a Captain America theme?

Here is the top before finishing.  I'm including this photo only because I took all of the finished photos upside down, and they look wonky if I rotate them to right side up!!!  lol... only an excited grandma would do something silly like that, right?
This (upside down) photo shows the soft, fluffy binding, which is also what the backing is
made of.  I always hand tie at each corner or point.

For whatever reason, my computer won't let me remove just one of these two photos.
Sorry!  You get to see one more partial picture!

Click on any of the pics to see a bit larger photo, if you wish!
Anyway, just thought I'd share with you what I've been working on!
I'll soon be in DC wearing my grandma hat for a month, and can't wait to see the family,
and meet the new baby boy!

Have a great day!
Thanks for dropping by to say hello!

Plan B...

Good morning!

So, I've been a bit busy.

I've been blogging about an upcoming trip on March 11th, to help our daughter and her family when the new baby comes on or about March 19th.  Well, our sweet little boy didn't want to wait that long!
We got a call on Monday morning, February 26th, that I was needed asap. I packed a bag, and caught an afternoon fight, getting into D.C. that evening. Dear daughter was induced on Monday, and we got our beautiful new grandson on Tuesday, February 27th!

I'll continue to be MIA for a while, but have several prescheduled posts.
Be sure to ignore all of my chatter about an upcoming trip 😉

Hope you are all well...
Thanks for stopping by,
Patti J.

Hey you guys!

Hey there, you guys!

Boy, did I ever have a surprise last week when I went to the Post Office...

I had a free copy of this magazine.

Why free?  Because I had a card published in it!

What a surprise - it had been about 10 months since I sent a few cards to them
After all those months, I just figured that they had donated the cards.

Don't you just love happy mail???

I hope that your week is going well, and that you are finding some time to be creative!

Hugs and blessings,
Patti J.

All Things Bright and Beautiful...

It's the first of the month, and we have a new challenge starting up on the Scor-Pal Blog.

The challenge is 'All Things Bright and Beautiful', so I immediately thought
about a spring project. I'm so weary of dark, rainy, dismal days - so looking forward
to some sunshine!

Here's a cute box that I made to hold some Easter candy.  I could not
resist using some spring colored plaid cardstock and stamps!

Good luck!

I'm going to enter this in the 'Anything Goes' challenge at Repeat Impressions.

 Thanks for stopping by today,

Patti J.

Happy Monday!

Good morning!

Well, it's Monday, and it's rained all weekend long. I'm ready for a bit of sunshine!
My sunglasses are feeling lonely...

I'll be sharing a few more cards from my stash for the next few weeks, as I'm
getting ready to be out of town for a month.  An adventure, for sure, as we have grandbaby
number 4 on the way!  He's due March 19th. Grandma is going to DC on March 11th,
and will be there until April 11th.

So....if you can be patient with me, I promise some fun posts in mid to late April,
and perhaps a few blog candies for putting up with my MIA status!

Here are a few cards that never made it to the blog....

Thanks for stopping by!

More stash to share...

I'm back to share a few more cards that have never made it to my blog.

If you have any questions, feel free to give me a shout.

Thank goodness for beautiful patterned papers, and beautiful dies - right?

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Hoping to do some blog surfing on Wednesday when my internet turns over a new month!

I'm still here!!!

Hello out there!

I hope that all of you are well, and that you are enjoying a nice day today.
It's 79 degrees here today, and supposed to get icy, sleety, snowy by Saturday a.m.
Gotta love Missouri weather!

I've been getting emails, FB messages, and today, I got a beautiful handmade card in the mail (thanks Laurie Unger!)  Thank you all so much for being concerned about me.

It's been a busy winter here, so I stepped down from all but one of my design teams, so that I could focus on some much needed clean-up and renovation here at home. It's also been tax time and end of year reports and things for hubby's business. We were on the road a few days to see our beautiful family, and I just haven't spent much time in my girl cave!

Anyway, thanks again for your concerns!

I'm going to begin sharing a few things here and there that I never had time to post.
I'm not going to tag companies and supplies, so if you have any questions, let me know,
and I'll get back to you quickly.

I'll be back soon with a few more!

Thanks for stopping by,

Hugs and grins!

Scor-Pal - Anything Goes!

Good morning! There is a NEW Scor-Pal Challenge this month, and it's an easy one. Scor-Pal More than One Score Challenge #45 is "ANYTHING GOES".

For this months project I made a cute candy box that was inspired by Linda Parker. Click on her link to see a video tutorial!  The finished dimensions of the box are 6 !/2" long x 1 3/4" square.

This is a quick and easybox that you can fill with many fun things.  Perfect for craft fairs, shower gifts, or just because!

I used my Scor-Pal Eighths Board to create the box.
All adhesive was Scor-Tape and I used both 1/4", and 1/2"

I hope you stop by the blog for more information about this months Scor-Pal Challenge #45, and see what the other designers created to inspire you!

Come join us!

Hugs and smiles,
Patti J.

One sheet wonder gift set

Hi all,

Hope you have had a good weekend. It's been a good one here - the temps have risen quite a bit. Today has been dreary and rainy, but the upside???  We looked out the window earlier and there were 12 deer in our yard, just nibbling away!

I thought I'd share a pretty set that I made one day several months ago. A friend, Sally McDonald is our local Stampin'Up gal, and she had us all out for a one sheet wonder day. She just brought out OODLES of stamps, inks, cardstock and embellishments, and let us create.

I had been wanting to make a nice set to send our daughter-in-law, who sends quite a few cards, so here's what I made for Alicia:

Thanks for stopping by!  Hopefully, I'll soon be done with taxes, remodeling, and road trips, and be able to stalk ya'll a bit more often!

Hugs and smiles,

Patti J.

Finally created something...

Hey there!

Can't believe I am finally back with a quick project. I began the intensive jobs of remodeling our fireplace, preparing 1099's, and getting tax info together.  Whew....busy here!

Thought I'd play along with a fun sketch challenge at Power Poppy. The challenge was to go to PageMaps and grab a sketch, and create something using their beautiful products.  Here's what I made:

I used this sketch (map):

Cute, right???

I used the Power Poppy digital set 'Get Wool Soon' for my card. Since my recipient is not sick, just someone that knits A LOT, I used a die cut instead of a get well sentiment.

All coloring is done with Copics, the designer paper is some Stampin'Up scraps, not sure who made the die cut, and some Glossy Accents were added to the mug for a bit of dimension.

Hope you're having a good January. I'll try to pop in and out of here once in a while!
For now, it's back to my ladder!!!

Hugs and grins,

Patti J.

Thanks to all of you who left comments on my blog for the Seasons Giving Blog Hop.
I'll be announcing winners later in this post.

But first...
A very belated Happy New Year to each of you. It's been a busy
January already for us.

I borrowed these fun dies from my bestie, Shirley, found some sparkly papers at Hobby Lobby, and here are the NewYear cards that were created for our kids and their beautiful families.

As always, we are eager to see them all again!  Those babies have all stolen our hearts,
and just think...we are getting another one mid March!

On to the winners - (thanks for hanging in here and reading about our 'grands'!)

I used an online random drawing program, and my winners are:

Rebecca Yahrling
Beverly S.

CONTRATULATIONS Rebecca and Beverly!

I will contact both ladies, and hopefully, have their packages on the way pronto!

Thanks again for being such wonderful cyber friends!!!

Hugs to you all,

Patti J.
