April Workshop

Hi there!

April was a pretty busy month! I made 20 of these for the grandkids teachers...

They were filled with cute 'shreds' of pink and green, and goodies! I designed the box to the size I wanted. The sweet die set was purchased from Taylored Expressions. It's one of their 'sack-it' sets. Love how easy it was! There was a cute little sentiment box added at the bottom of the box, between the bunny feet.

Shirley and I had an April workshop, as well. The first one filled up right away, so we scheduled one a few days later, which also filled up. We had a great time with some very fun creative ladies! Some were brand new paper crafters, and we loved seeing their smiles after they made cool stuff!

Here's what they made:

This card uses stamps and dies from an older Die-Versions set. It was one of my designs.

Cuteness....! This was Shirley's 3-D design. It's a popcorn sleeve. I think her stamps were from Crackerjack Palace.

This was one of my designs - it is a W card.

Here's another adorable card design by Shirley. This uses stamps from Repeat Impressions.

Here is Shirley's last design. It's such a pretty card, and the flap is held closed with a tiny magnet.

This project uses Stampin'Up supplies.

Die-Versions and Sparkle n Sprinkle Hop - Awareness Campaign

Hello!

I've recently stepped down from the Die-Versions Design Team, and sadly, this is my last post. 

It's been a great couple of years, and I've enjoyed working with Dani, the owner, and the wonderful ladies on the Design Team. Thanks, Dani, for inviting me to be a part of your family!

What could be more fun than ending my time with a fabulous blog hop???

Sparkle N Sprinkle and Die-Versions are partnering up for a very special joint blog hop, called the Awareness Campaign.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the newly released Die-Versions dies and the stamp sets revealed in the joint blog hop will go to help with cancer research.  

Almost every one has been touched by cancer is one way or another.  Either you or a family member has had cancer or you know someone who has had cancer.  The Designers from both teams are joining together to help the fight to eradicate all cancers by inspiring you.

Not only are we debuting NINE new Die-Versions low profile dies (July 2015 Reveal - scroll down to the end of the reveal), Sparkle N Sprinkle is also revealing THREE stamp sets for this Awareness Campaign.

The sky was sponged on, and I had a really old wooden sun stamp that finished this one off!

Hello You....

It's my day to post on the Die-Versions blog, and it seemed like a great day to showcase a beautiful new Die-Version die.

For today's card, I've used Die-Versions "Lighthouse" Whispers DV-474, a fun sentiment from Lawn Fawn, and a fun sand stamp from Great Impressions.

I started with a large focal panel, stamped the sand, and colored with Copics.

The water was added with some distress ink and a sponge, as were the clouds.

The sentiment was stamped on the water line.

I cut the panel to desired size, adhered it to the card base, and set it aside.

The lighthouse was cut three times, once from white, red, and Kraft.

Using the white 'shell', I added some two sided tape to the back side of the lighthouse, and began adding pieces that had been die cut from the Kraft and red papers.

Once all the pieces were 'embedded', I took a grey marker, and did some shadowing on the lighthouse.

It was then added to the focal panel.

A few hand drawn birds finished this little scene perfectly!

CardMaker Magazine and Patriotic Colors

Hello, and happy Friday!

Today is my last blog post as part of the CardMaker Magazine blog team.

It's hard to believe that six months flew by so quickly.

It was such an enjoyable DT term. I met some wonderful people,

worked with some incredible products, and was forced to step outside

of my comfort zone a few times with project assignments!

Thank you Brooke and Tanya, for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your team!

I have two storage tips for you, that might will help your papercrafting

go a lot faster!

It's my day to post on the Die-Versions blog, and it seemed only fitting to showcase

a couple of my patriotic Die-Version dies!

For my project today, I've used Die-Versions "Festive Rocket" Whispers DV-473, and "Independence Kids" Whispers DV-467. The sentiment is a stamp from Repeat Impressions.

Here's a close up of the "Independence Kids" die that I used. You will note that I die cut from three different colors, layering one on top of the other (moving each layer a bit to the side) for dimension.

These dies were just calling out to be used in a unique way. The pattern for this Diorama card was lying on my work space, and that's how this card evolved!

This is the view from the front of the card.

And here, I've laid the card down, giving you a bird's eye view of the card.

The fun thing about this card, is that it folds flat for mailing! If I had not used the rocket die as I did, an A2 envie would hold it. I had to choose a larger envelope due to the overhang of the fireworks!

Here, you can see the flap folded (not yet sealed). I placed the twine on top

to hold everything in place for the sake of photos!

Speaking of twine.....here is one more storage tip! I had OOdles of my grandmother's old wooden thread spools.  She worked for years in a fur store in downtown St. Louis. I can remember being allowed to go to work with her a few times. It was awe-inspiring to touch all of those amazing furs! Anyway, as the spools whittled down to just a couple of yards, she was told to take them home and use them.  I've saved them for years, and one day, I thought how fun it would be to be able to have them out and visible!  Since I had a lot of Baker's Twine, that is what seemed best to use them for.  I also had this pretty etched candy dish (I don't use the lid, as I like it to be open and ready to grab a spool) that seemed oh, so perfect. Now, my beautiful twines are all wrapped onto nana's spools, in a glass display 'case' that otherwise would be hiding in a cabinet!

More fun with Die-Versions!

Hello!

I'm here today to share a fun card made with a Die-Versions new

release die "Tropical Bell Flowers" Whispers DV-491.

I had to Google these flowers, to see what colors were prevelant,

and what I found were mostly pinks and yellows, with a few whites.

I decided to have some fun, and go with the yellow (which had pink

centers, on Google) and a very bright pink.

Here's what I created:

I think it will cheer up my Chemo buddy, don't you?

What gal doesn't like a bit of pink bling, now and then!

Fun with Die-Versions!

Die-Versions has another great new release, and I had a great time

creating with one of the new dies.

I used Die-Versions "Vintage Street Light" Whispers DV-451

for my card.

Here's what I created:

To begin, I die cut the lamp from a piece of patterned paper. I put some adhesive on the back side, die cut the lamp again in black, and inlaid the pieces into the opening on the patterned paper. I cut one more time, using some yellow patterned paper, and filled in the light itself. To finish, I stamped a sentiment, matted the layers together, and Voila!

Note that this lamp post is a great size for your A2 cards! Some that I've seen are pretty short, but this one would make such a nice backdrop for other dies or images. Can't wait to use it again!

Victorian Kids

Hello out there!

My card today is created with Die-Versions "Victorian Kids" Whispers DV-463.

Don't you love it when a card comes together quickly, and

beautifully, with just a bit of fun patterned paper, a wonderful sentiment, 

and an AMAZING die?  Yep, love it when that happens!

MEOW-rvelous Day

Good morning!

I'm here today with a cute project for Die-Versions.

Usually, when I case (copy and steal everything) a card by someone else, it ends up looking so entirely different that I forget why or what I cased in the beginning!

In full disclosure, however, I admit that I totally cased my card today, from THIS card by Jennifer McGuire. What a talented lady she is! Thanks Jennifer, for the inspiration.

I used Die-Versions DV-9014 Cat's Meow for this card.

I needed a birthday card for a friend, and thought this would bring her a smile.

I think she liked it!

It's very difficult to see, but the blue panel is stamped repeatedly with the ball of yarn

stamp in a light blue ink.  Just a wee bit of coloring, stamping, and die-cutting, and

voila!  One very sweet card!

I'm so glad that Die-Versions is making both stamps and dies!

Flying Kites

Hello!

Hope you are all well today!
I needed a birthday card for a dear friend, and wanted to play a bit
with this new Die-Versions "Flying Kites" Whispers DV-441.

Once again, I cut the die from the background paper, and again from
three designer papers, and cut and pieced them into the die
opening on the blue background.  Rather than to fussy cut all of the bows,
I used a marker and colored them.  After coloring I dotted them with
my Sakura white gel pen.  Easy peasy!

This technique is a bit time consuming, but I find it therapeutic, and think
it makes such a fun statement...AND is flat for mailing!

Die-Versions "Spring Bike"

Hello!

Today, my handsome man and I are celebrating our 42nd Anniversary!

I'm not sure how or why he's put up with me this long, but I'm happy that he has.

Last fall, we bought a couple of bikes for a fun activity to do together.

When Die-Versions came out with this sweet "Spring Bike", I knew I had to make

a card with it today.

This photo gives you a close-up of the glossy parts!

The bike is one die:  Die-Versions "Spring Bike" Whispers DV-436.

I die cut it from white cardstock, and used Copics and Glossy Accents to

color in the parts.  This is too cute!  I'm hoping that they will create

some small 'basket fillers' for the different seasons.

The sentiment comes from a great stamp set by Our Daily Bread Designs (Item #E358), called Bicycle.

Birdhouse BranchDi

Hello out there!

Seems like it's been a long time since I've posted a Die-Versions project!

I have one of the new release dies to share with you today.

This is Die-Versions "Birdhouse Branch" Whispers DV-437, and it's going

to be a favorite!  I used the inlaid die technique with this card.

The die was cut on blue, pink, green, woodgrain, and the cute grid background papers.

Once I had the background, I put a piece of sticky paper on the back, and began

trimming off pieces to fit in the blanks - just like working a puzzle!

The sentiment is Great Impressions B152 Hello Friend.

I think this one's a keeper - what do you think?
