Hello!

It's time for a new Inspiration Palette challenge at The House that Stamps Built!

Here is the photo that we were given for inspiration:

When I looked at this photo, I immediately thought of the old shaving cream technique. I drug some food coloring out of the pantry, raided the Mr.'s bathroom for shaving cream, and voila...a background was born.

Here is what I made today, using these Repeat Impressions Stamps:

Scor-Pal Challenge - Mid-month reminder!

Hello friends,

Today, we are midway through the month, so I thought I'd pop back here and remind you that there is a challenge going on at the Scor-Pal Blog.  This month, the challenge was to make an interactive card. If you remember, I made this card:

I thought I'd share dimensions with you today for the little 'tissue box', so that you can
duplicate this technique on your next get well or thinking of you card.

Here is how I did it:

Using your Scor-Pal, score your A2 card at 4.25".

Stamp any desired sentiment on the inside top panel of your card. On my card, I stamped
'get well soon'.  Next, decorate card front as desired.

Cut your tissue box to 6.25" x 3", and score on the long side at:
1.5", 3", 4.5", and 6".

Your box is beginning to take shape!

Add 1/4" Scor-Tape to your tab.

Determine which panel will be the top of your box, find an oval die,
and create an opening for your tissue.

Assemble your box.
Add two strips of 1/2" Scor-Tape to the side that will be the back, and
a strip to the box bottom.

Adhere your tissue box to your card at the fold line. Open and close a few
times to be sure everything works.  Grab about 1/2 piece of tissue, and
work with it until you like the way it looks in your box. Mine was pretty
firm, and needed no adhesive, but you may find that you want some.

That's that - easy peasy, right???  Hope you'll give it a try!

The challenge at the Scor-Pal blog goes through the end of the month, and there
are very few entries so far.  YOU could win some shopping fun at the Scor-Pal store!
Link up your interactive card - make something fun that flips, flaps, or pops!

Tic Tac Toe...

Good morning!

I'm back with a new Tic-Tac-Toe challenge for Repeat Impressions.
Just look at the fun inspiration that Wendy gave us to work with:

I used the middle row: Blue, Paper Piecing, and Washi Tape.

Here's my card, made using these Repeat Impressions Stamps:

This was just too much fun!  I got to color, fussy cut, and play with Washi Tape!

Now it’s your turn! Create a card using the Tic-Tac-Toe board above, and link it up at The House that Stamps Built. Remember, your creation does not have to be made with Repeat Impressions stamps, but if you would like to include our designs we would love to see them! Plus, there’s an added bonus… you will get an additional entry in our random.org drawing for using our stamps in your submissions!

Check out my sidebar to see how you can save money on your RI orders!

Now, it's time to see what my fellow Rock Stars have created!
We are so excited - we have added a new Rock Star to our family - please
drop by and give Shirley a warm welcome!!!

Project of the Week at The House that Stamps Built

Hey there!

Can you believe it's already Monday?

It's my turn to be the Project of the Week Hostess at The House that Stamps Built.

Today, I will share how easy it is to make a card with a split front.  These always draw
lots of  oooh's and aaah's, and look far more difficult and labor intensive than they really are.
I know that you'll want to make one and I can't wait to see it!!!

These Repeat Impression stamps were used:

First you will need an A2 card base.  I cut mine at 4.25" x 11".

Since I'm making more than one card, you will see two of everything :)

Score your cardstock at 5.5"

Burnish your score lines.

Decide which will be your bottom front of card. Cut 1.25" off and set aside.

Cut another 1.25" off.

This is what you should have.
You will only need one of the 1.25" white strips. You can either discard the second one,
or if you're a hoarder like me, you can save it for another project!

Now you will need some layers.  You will need:

one piece of designer paper that measures 3.75" x  2.25"
one piece of designer paper that measures .75" x 3.75"
one piece of 'matting' cardstock that measures 4" x 2.5"
one piece of 'matting' cardstock that measures 1" x 4"
one piece of matting cardstock that measures 2" x 2.75"*
one piece of white cardstock that measures 1.75" x 2.5"*
*depending on your sentiment or image the last two pieces may vary in size from my card.

These are the layers that you will have (these are not yet assembled - I've just laid them out for you to see)

Stamp your image or sentiment on your white panel.  Lucky for me, there is this really fabulous
white cardstock that I use, which enables me to turn my piece over and try again in the event
of a mis-stamp!

Now, just begin assembling all of your layers.

Top of card

Here, you will place your white strip at the bottom of your card, being careful to line it up with your bottom edge of the card back.  It's a bit odd having that open area between your panels.  I find that it helps me line things up if I use some post it scraps to hold things in place!

Once things are lined up, apply a strip of adhesive to only the top and bottom edges of your focal panel, center, and adhere to the top and bottom panels.  Pretty cool, right?

Embellish as desired.  I've used butterflies, and cut out a flower from the designer paper
for these two cards.  A few little pearls finished these off nicely.

For this card, I turned the sentiment the opposite direction, and embellished with
smaller butterflies and some tiny gemstones.

Hope you give this a try!
If you do, be sure to let me know - I'd love to see your beautiful creations!

Sometimes less really is more.  I let the sweet die, and some beautiful patterned paper
say it all....

Another great die, right?  And look at this pretty image! Swoon.......!!!

Okay, it’s your turn!
We hope you will create a card that has a focus on today’s DCC theme, and enter it in our challenge at The House that Stamps Built!  Remember, your creation does not have to be made with Repeat Impressions stamps, but if you would like to include our designs we would love to see them!  Plus, there’s an added bonus… you will get an additional entry in our random.org drawing for using our stamps in your submissions!

A Card and a Cuppa

Good morning!

A very long time friend of mine recently retired, and is taking her Stampin'Up! business a bit
further, now that she has time that's not being spent creating lesson plans,
grading papers, preparing tests, etc.

Every other week, on Tuesday, she holds a mini workshop.

We meet a a local coffee shop, Coljac's, where we have a delicious cuppa (and their fabulous homemade treats), and we make a card...or 'some of us' finally stop at three!
You know how it is - it's always more fun to play with someone else's stamps, inks, and dies, right???

Anyhoo.  Here is what I made last Tuesday, with my friend, Sally McDonald's help and
never-ending table full of stamps, inks, bling....basically all things delightful to a
card-maker.

Hope you are having a great week!  Today is my birthday, and I spent the day
with my women's group at church - talk about blessings!!!

Happy Monday - get your glitter on!

Exciting News!

Happy Weekend, everyone!

I'm here today with a fun project, but first I have some exciting news...
I am now a proud member of the Scor-Pal Design Team!

Each month, there is a new challenge on the Scor-Pal blog.
This month, the challenge is "More than one Fold" with a focus on interactive projects.
We hope that you will decide to join us!  Show us your cards or boxes that
flip, flap, or pop up!

Here's what I made, using my Scor-Pal and Scor-Tapes:

Hope to see your project linked up on our challenge this month!

I'll be back mid-month with a tutorial, showing how I created this fun card,
using Scor-Tape and my brand new Scor-Pal Eighths!!!!  With all of the fun and amazing products
that have come and go during the many years I've been paper crafting, my Scor-Pal's
are something I reach for with nearly every project.  I'm really enjoying this board,
with the scoring grooves at every eighth inch.

Thanks for stopping by - have a great weekend,

Patti J.
