'Happy Birthday to Me' means Blog Candy to you!

Hello Friends!

Today is my birthday.
I'm not going to tell you my age, but I may or may not have been born in 1954.

As you all know, I am in DC, proudly and happily wearing my grandma hat this week,
but since it's my birthday, and since you've been so patient with me while I remodeled and, sewed, and traveled, I wanted to give some birthday gifts to some you...

Since this is our 4th grandchild, I'm going to have a random drawing for 4
'Itty Bitty Blog Candy' prizes!

To enter, just leave me a Happy Birthday comment below, and tell me a fun fact about you that I don't know!

I'll go first...

When I was a freshman in high school, I lived in Dolton, Il.  I was in a 'Miss Dolton'
contest, which was largely judged on our float.  Imagine my surprise (actually,
think about me hitting myself on the forehead, like the V8 commercial) when I lost
the contest due to a spelling error on our float!  Our Volunteer Fire Department float builder helpers had used Congradulations, instead of Congratulations 😲

So, I'm almost famous like Hillary! I got the most votes, but lost the 'Election' when the judges caught our spelling error! Wish we had a photo of the whole sign!

Oh, dear....look at that funky hair! Remember when the low part was the 'in' thing?
Probably not - I'm most likely the only antique in blogland :)

That's me on the right.

Now you know!

Hee hee...your turn.

Have a wonderful day - I cannot WAIT to read your comments!!!

All four winners will be announced on Thursday, April 12th.
Each of you will receive a padded envelope with something fun inside!

Thanks for coming to see me today!

Hugs,
Patti J.

Happy Birthday! 1954 was a very good year to have been born--so was I! I can assure you that you are not the oldest person in blog land. What you may not know about me is that I became addicted to stamping and paper crafting back in 1992 when I was invited to a DOTS demonstration (now Close to My Heart). I only went so I could get an afternoon away from my kids and was floored by all the creative possibilities that were opened to me then. Have a fabulous birthday celebration and a wonderful year of fun and creativity. Congrats also on being a 4th time new grandparent. (I only have 1 amazing grandson)
:) Marie

Well what memories - and I had to laugh when I read your float story. Happy Birthday and I'm trying to think real hard of something you don't know about me - hmmm....I really do like kids!!! LOL

Happy Birthday, Patti! I hope you have an extra special day!
Something you don't know about me is that I used to raise exotic birds. I had an outdoor aviary, and hand fed parrot-type birds. I raised a lot of baby Sun Conures, cockatiels, and Alexandrine Ringneck Parakeets.

Happy Birthday first of all. Trying to think of something you don't know about me. My life is not that exciting. LOL I worked one summer when about sixteen years old as a cook at a youth Bible Camp. I was in charge of all the baked goodies including enough for 80 or more people. Once a week I baked fresh cinnamon rolls and I was on duty at four o'clock each morning.

Happy Birthday to you!!!! what you may not know about me is that I am related to Tom Thumb, and yes he really was a small person in the Barnum Bailey Circus. that was his stage name. so when people call me shorty, I say its Tom Thumb's fault, lolol

Well, congrats on your big day! I might or might not have been born in 1954 too! When I was a senior, I won the Betty Crocker award through my Home Ec class. I was pretty proud of myself until I found out I was also the only entrant! I still have my charm on my charm bracelet! I think your photo is wonderful....a great time to be a teen!

Happy Birthday Patti. I hope you're having a wonderful day. Congrats on the new grandbaby. One thing you don't know about me is I played the cymbals in my high school band.

Happy Birthday! Love seeing all the memories. One thing you don't know about me is that in high school I was in chorus, but I can't read music. I would never sign up for solos or duets, but I was in a triple trio once, I just sang what the others were singing.

Happy, happy birthday, Patti! A fun fact about me: I was Valedictorian of my senior class in H.S. Sounds pretty impressive until you know that there were only 23 kids in my class!!!! Thanks for sharing your own personal memories. So much fun to see the pictures and read the captions.

Hope you had a wonderful day. The pix were such fun! Guess the judges didn't think you were making a play on words, huh?!?

Hope you had a WONDERFUL Birthday!! You were quite the beauty. Shame on those judges for not choosing you!
I had another 39th(lol) b-day recently, March 30th. The year I was born Easter fell on the 30th, so that makes me a Easter bunny! In addition I am a natural redhead & am 1/4 Cherokee Indian.

Happy Birthday dear friend. I hope you have the wonderful day you deserve. I love what we have to do to enter. How creative. It was interesting to read everyone's responses. What you don't know about me is I played the violin from grade 4 to 12 and played in the highschool orchestra. I have to share a second thing. I'm a retired 2nd Lt in the army reserves.

Happy birthday! Also congrats on your 4th grandchild! What an achievement!. I have 2 and got a feeling it will keep growing in numbers lol. My fun fact is I had a nickname as a child/teenager named by my friends as "shazzy short bottom" The reason being is because I'm smaller than the average height and more like a real tiny person loll. Not sure where the bottom comes from. Also I'm called "battyshazzy" as you can probably guess I was a little crazy back then hence the name. My email is actually named after it loll

Happy Belated Birthday, Patti! As you know, I remember, since it's exactly the same as my husband's:) Thanks for sharing the pictures and your story. Hope your day was great. So wonderful of you to be there helping with the newest grandchild.

Happy birthday. You don’t know that I have a grand daughter who is a school teacher and I had a grandmother who was one also.

Happy birthday Patti! As the only thing you probably "know" about me is that I'm a crafter, my options are wide open. I don't have anything interesting, but I love my job, so that's what I'll go with - I'm a researcher at a non-profit providing support to persons with disabilities and have worked there for almost 13 years now, since I graduated university.

I am very late ... but Happy (belated) Birthday to you!!!
One of my nephews is also on the 3rd ... he's sweet 16!
Goodness, they grow up so fast!! Well, before I started crafting,
my whole world revolved around shooting pool just about 24/7.
And I met my husband at a pool tournament in Naples, FL (we
both travelled the state playing in tournaments). And THAT
was nearly 25 years ago! :-)
