Repeat Impressions Project of the Week - Stamping on Candles

Hello!

It's my turn to share a Project of the Week at The House that Stamps Built,
using products from Repeat Impressions Stamps.

Today, I will show you how to stamp on a candle.  It's easy, so grab that cup
of coffee or tea, and let's get started!

I have used these Repeat Impressions stamps on my project today:

4405-K Dragonfly Deco
102-F Dragonfly

Here are the supplies you will need:
Stamps, Ink, a Candle, Markers, Tissue Paper, Heat Gun

To begin, cut a piece of tissue paper that will cover the area of candle that you wish to stamp on.
I'm covering most of my candle, so I just laid the candle down on my tissue paper, loosely drew my rectangle, and then cut it out.  Stamp your image(s) on the tissue paper.

Next, you will color your image(s). Be sure to place a scrap of paper or cardstock under your panel, as your ink will very quickly seep out of the lines (you can see some color peeking through from the scrap paper).

After your coloring is complete, trim around the image(s) as closely as possible.

Cut a strip of tissue paper the length of the candle from top to bottom, and long enough to 'roll' to make a 'handle' - you'll see soon....

Lay your image piece, ink side down, onto your candle.

Cover with your long strip of tissue.  Here you can see my 'handle'. This will help
keep you from getting crispy fingers during your heating process!

Heat the image. You will see the image begin to immediately 'set' into the candle wax.
Work slowly enough to melt it all in, but quickly enough that what you heat first is still warm.

Here, you can see the images have set into the candle and are very visible through your
tissue paper strip.  Immediately begin removing your outer tissue paper.

Here is my finished product!

Once you begin to burn this candle, keep an eye on things, as there is still tissue paper
around your image(s).  If you are doing candles for wedding or party tables, you may want to use an image around the middle or lower section of the candle.

If you decide to give this a try, be sure to come back and let us know, so we can check out your beautiful creations!

Thanks for stopping by,

Patti J.

Stamping on candles was the very first project I ever did with rubber stamps. My daughter showed me how and she embossed the design in gold and put it on a white candle. I was then hooked on using rubber stamps then and it snowballed from there to where I am today. Thanks for a great memory. That was about 15 years ago I did my first stamped project.
