A Bit of Cheer...

Happy Sunday!

I have a super quick post for you today.

This card uses the Doodle Pantry Quirky Cat set. I made this card very simple and child-like, as it's going to a very young girl who had a heart and lung transplant this past week. We're doing a little card drive for her, and I thought this Cat very fitting for a sweet little gal who has a cat!

I am entering this in the Card Patterns challenge this week. Here is their sketch:

Hope that you are having a delightful Sunday. Tonight is the U2 concert! Keep us in your thoughts and prayers! Hope that my ankle and DD's foot hold out, and that we survive the 100+ temperatures! There are 54,000 people expected!!! DS, if you are reading, thanks again for the wonderful surprise gift of these tickets!!! You are the best son ever!

Have a great day,

Hugs,
Patti J.

Monday, Monday...

So, we survived another Monday! Wonder why Monday's are so hard? Monday's are even yukky for retiree's! I had a gloomy day today...stayed in ALL day. Did a craft festival with DD on Saturday from 10-4, and it was and outdoor festival. It got into the 50's, and was a beautiful day, but the sun was high overhead all day, and this poor fair skinned girl got blistered. My neck, nose, chin, cheeks, and eyebrows look ridiculous! Lol.... So, today, I didn't budge. I moisturized all day long, and still feel fiery!

I took time to make one card, but couldn't stand to sit under my halogen lights any more than that!
I've never taken part in a challenge at Card Patterns, and decided this was 'the' week! Below is their Sketch #37. I'm such a rebel - I nearly always turn sketches all kattywampus! This was turned on it's side!

The challenge at There's Magic in the Air, was to use Nina's beautiful free digi image (shown on card below), with a slight twist! DT member, Curt, challenged us to pop up some or all of our image! So, dear Curt...I did!!! I printed the image twice, colored twice, and cut out the geese, all of the fence, the large and small pumpkins. All of these, in addition to the computer generated sentiment, were popped up! It's pretty cool the way popping them up creates shadows!

Other challenges met with this card were:
Created by Hand (Harvest Time),
All coloring was done with Kooh-I-Noor colored pencils and low odor mineral spirits.
I really enjoy Nina's images! She posts a free image every Monday that stays up for a week. Run over and check it out!
Well, hope to be back on my feet tomorrow with some more cards to show... have a great night!

Challenges....

Before I get started rambling, there is a very talented 8 year old girl in the U.K. that has designed her very own card and posted it on her momma's blog. I think she did a fantastic job for as young as she is!!! If you get time today, please take a moment to visit Pat's blog, and leave Sarah an inspirational message! The blog is: http://clevercrafting.blogspot.com/

I am finding that I really enjoy the card challenges. It gives me an excuse to make something, and a sketch or main idea to work with. Sometimes, when I just sit and stare at paper and stamps, nothing happens!

This being said, the card I'm posting today is for The Corrosive Challenge #6 (Spring has Sprung) in which we were to use an Easter or Spring theme, AND for the Card Patterns challenge, which was to follow the given sketch (posted below also!). This was fun, trying to combine the two. I'm not crazy about the outcome, but I guess I'm not supposed to like them all!

The stamp sets are Fleur Birdies and Tag Tidbits, both by The Angel Company. The punches are by Marvy Uchida. The beautiful paper is Garden Party Green Floral Flat Glitter Paper, by K & Company. I picked it up on my last visit to O'Dear's. I can't wait until the 18th of April - am going down for a morning class, and will more than likely come back with a bag FULL of goodies!
Have a blessed Sunday - hope you get some rest, and some quality family time today.
