Repeat Impressions - Color Challenge

There's a new color challenge up today at The House that Stamps Built.

This one really worked my brain...just sayin'

I love the way it turned out, though!

Here are the colors we were given for our inspiration:

And here's what I created, using Repeat Impressions 3101-J Dream, Inspire, Hope:

The stamp was inked in all three colors, by using a sponge dauber, and daubbing

the ink directly onto the stamp.  What do you think?
I really like the way it turned out!

Die-Versions Blog Hop and Mother's Day Card Challenge!

Repeat Impressions - Project of the Week

Now.....where was I???  Oh!

It's my turn to share a Project of the Week, at The House that Stamps Built.

One of my most used techniques is what I call 'Shadow Stamping'. I'm not sure if that's

what it's really called, but that's my name for it. I love that it gives a bit of

movement and dimension to a stamped image.

Let me show you how it works:

First, choose and stamp your image or sentiment. For today's example, I chose to

use the Repeat Impressions Fern 1708-G.

I stamped the fern in a light shade of green. I placed my Stamp-a-ma-jig over the original

image, but moved it slightly, dropping it down to resemble a shadow.

Once I had things lined up, I began stamping the ferns again, in a darker shade of green.

Can you see the difference in photo 1 and photo 3?  Pretty, isn't it?

Now, let me show you a cute card I made, using this technique!

For this card, I used the following Halloween stamps:

Repeat Impressions Bats 2308-E 

Repeat Impressions Boo! 2316-G

Repeat Impressions Black Cat 2322-G

To begin, I cut a card front panel to 4" x 5.35", and masked off the top and bottom ends with

some small post-it notes. I masked off a circle (the moon), and did some sponging.

I removed the circle, and sponged in some yellow and gold, leaving a tiny ring at the top.

Next, using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig for placement, I came in one at a time, with the black cat, bats, and BOO. They were stamped in London Fog, sort of creating a little eerie scene.

Next, using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, I again lined each stamp up, one by one. Once aligned,

I moved the image just a bit to the right and down, and stamped each one in Tuxedo Black,

creating a shadow on each image.

When the Post-its were removed, this was the result! Now, all that's left

to do, is finish the card.

I recently purchase a roll of itty bitty Washi Tape.  I edged the stamped panel with the 

Washi Tape, and then trimmed, leaving just a bit of white border at the top and bottom.

I matted the panel, added it to the card front with dimensional foam, and tied a Baker's Twine

bow at the top.  Voila!!!

I use this technique a lot on sentiments. Sometimes, a sentiment needs just a touch of a pretty color dropping off of the black ink - give it a try!!!

Celebrate Spring!

Today begins a new monthly challenge at the Great Impressions blog.

This challenge is perfect - 'Celebrate Spring'!

I used Great Impressions D490 Happy Day, and G522 Spring Boots,

and here's what I made to celebrate spring:

We've had a lot of rain, hail, wind, and cold here in Missouri - we are all SO ready for some pretty spring weather.  These boots seemed just the right way to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring!

Spin Cycle...

Oh happy day - it's Saturday!

The card I'm sharing today is created using some adorable

new stamps from Great Impressions... 

F608 Beary Wet, and E867 Spin Cycle.

Tee hee, I love this, because some days we just feel like this, right???

The layout is super simple, as I wanted this sweet image and sentiment to be the focal emphasis. 

The image was stamped, colored, cut out, and adhered to the card front with foam squares for dimension. 

Then, some Glossy Accents were added to the drips and puddle. 

Isn't he adorable? 

If you click to make the image larger, you'll see that I gave him a worn and tattered look, by gently pressing on some colorless blender, using a square of cheesecloth.

Friends with Flair

Happy May Day!

I'm popping in this afternoon with a quick post - trying to get into the

Friends with Flair Friday challenge at Unity Stamps.

Here's what I made:

My friend Carol and I have been dear friends since we first met in 5th grade.

We're both now into our sixties, so THAT's how long we've been buds.

In the past few years, she's lost both a daughter, and recently her husband.

(We were married exactly one week apart, in 1973)

Anyway, I love her dearly, and this card is going to her!

I don't think she reads my blog, so I should be safe...

I used a Unity grab bag - GB5 sentiment for this card.

Hope you like it!

Heartfelt Creations Arianna Blooms papers were used. The sentiment was

stamped on one of the frilly rectangles. I took the second rectangle, and fussy cut

all of the blooms, popped them up with dimensional foam, and a card was born.
