Project of the Week - Positive and Negative Stamping

Hello all!

I'm here today with a Project of the Week for Repeat Impressions Stamps.

My project is an older technique, but one worth sharing!

For this first method of Positive and Negative Stamping, I used Repeat Impressions 4405-K Dragonfly Deco, and Repeat Impressions 1808-Just Because.

The first step is to stamp your image on a dark and light card stock, using versamark ink.

For my project, I used black and white.  Sprinkle white embossing powder on the black panel, and black embossing powder on the white panel.  Heat emboss.

Next, you will cut straight down the center of your image on both pieces, creating four halves.

Put your halves together as shown.  Once you have them the way you like them, you will put some tape on the back of each center to hold the panel together as one.

At this point, you will need to decide what shape you'd like your focal piece to be.

For this tutorial, it was easy to just grab a couple of spellbinders.

Run your panels through the cutting machine, and voila! 

Now, cut two panels a shade smaller than your card base.  I use 4" x 5 1/4".

Cut these panels exactly in half, and tape them together on the back sides.

Adhere the panels that you just created onto two card bases.

Now, take your two dragonfly panels, and adhere them as shown.

What a fun way to get two cards in one easy session! 

I adhered my panels with dimensional foam, but you can just add them

directly to your card front with two sided tape.

Sometimes, you will need to add a few embellishments to cover up those OOPSIES!

No, don't ask me how I know this! 

For this next card, I used Repeat Impressions Stamps 1706-Wild Violets, and Repeat Impressions Stamps 3910-G Miracle of Spring. I first stamped my flowers in a row, with black ink, on a panel of white CS. You can use any stamps, and any size panel.

Next, take a small piece of card stock the same color as your card 4" x 5 1/4" card panel, and stamp the image again, with VersaMark ink.  Heat emboss with white embossing powder.  (You could use white ink for this, but I like the pop of the embossing powder). 

Mat your white panel with black cardstock. Adhere the heat embossed panel

directly over the matching image.  Add a piece of twine or ribbon.

Stamp sentiment in black ink.  Adhere this panel onto the card front panel.

Adhere the card front panel to your card base.

That's it!
