P. U.

So...last night at bedtime, dear doggie Flake tangled with a skunk! I opened the door to let her out. She went out to do her business, barked twice, and before I could even call her back in, she yelped, and it was too late! She now has this horrendous odor about her that will not bathe off. I'm waiting on baited breath (actually, with a towel folded over my face) for the vet's office to open to find out what I can do. I have no tomato juice in the house, and really don't know if I could bathe her by myself or not! I'm hoping the vet's office will say 'bring her in and we'll bathe her for you'...ha. right. Poor thing, she didn't even eat her bedtime snack - it's still in her dog dish!

If I can get this computer to work later, I will update you all - I'm sure you are just SO anxious to hear the outcome of this story!

Hugs to all. New computer due in no later than April 13th. DH will take the new one, and I can then get his laptop! Wahoo!!! I'm so excited...

Later!

They say not to use tomato juice.
try a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and regular dish soap. Use about 1 qt of 3% peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and a drizzle of dish soap. Mix it well and add a cup of water if needed and then lather up your dog right away.
Hope this helps.

Patti I can relate, our dog has been sprayed twice. The first time we went and bought some spray that was suppose to neutralize the odor. It worked ok, but not great. The second time we used the mixture that Dawn used and it worked much better and so much cheaper to. Good luck!

Poor sweet dog. Can you imagine with their heightened sense of smell what it must be like for them? I know that places like PetSmart carries products just for this. But by now I'm sure you have solved the problem. Sorry you all had to go through that! Best, Curt
