Retro Reindeer

Hello Friends!

I'm up on the Technique Junkies blog to share three pretty cards, using beautiful new stamps from Technique Junkies.

I was totally smitten with #SD1119 Retro Reindeer the moment I saw it. I just knew that I wanted clean and simple cards, letting the image showcase itself! I make approximately 180 Christmas cards each year, and this may be what I make this year! Let me show you what I created!

For my first card, I though embossing and embellishing with silver on black seemed perfect, so that's what happened. The sentiment is from a wonderful new set #SS142 Light of Faith. I used a 5 x 7 card base, and cut a black focal panel and silver mat, a bit smaller than the card base. The deer and sentiment were heat embossed in silver, and a strip of silver Washi Tape (that resembles grosgrain ribbon) was added diagonally for some grounding of each stamp. The layers were assembled, and a beautiful card was finished!

This view just shows the shine a bit better...

I had printed some of this very light background paper for a workshop that a friend and I are teaching later this month, and fell in love with it. (It's actually digital dollhouse wallpaper!).

Short and sweet, the card base is light gray, and the image and sentiment (also from the #SS142 Light of Faith set) were stamped with black Versafine ink for a crisp image. This one will probably be our Christmas cards this year - I love the utter simplicity of it, and the sentiment really speaks to me. This will be the first Christmas that any of our family has been HERE for Christmas for a very long time!

I'm not only a Technique Junkie, but a Christmas Junkie, so this release has been SO much fun to work with!!! But...WAIT until you see next month's amazing stamps!

  3. This is such a great Christmas card design! I love the ones that have a big impact and not too many steps, since I make so many of them. The deer, with its elegant antlers, is so pretty, and I love both the sentiments you used. You always inspire me, Patti!
