Good morning!
It's actually a very nice day in Missouri for being January!
I wanted to thank you all for your 'printer' help a few weeks ago!
Being that I limited my budget to 'way low' for this, I think I did well!
All but one of my printers have been HP's, and I've always had good luck,
so I did end up with another HP.
The one tip that you all gave me, was that I should have a printer that fed from the back,
so that the paper didn't have to go 'around' anything to feed.
I ended up with a back-feeding printer/scanner combo that is wireless.
It is doing a great job, and although our wireless is pretty slow here, the nice copies and jamless print jobs are well worth the wait!
The paper/cardstock feeds very well, the copy quality is good, and are you ready for this?
At Office Max, it was under sixty bucks!!!!
Cool!
Thanks SO much for your help!

Which brings me to today's order of business.........
Adhesive!
I'm curious to know what adhesives you all use.
I have actually received hand made cards in the mail that fall apart
when I pull them out of the envie.
I've also created cards, and put them in my stash.
Months later, when I go to send them to someone, I have to add glue dots to all corners
to keep them intact.
So...my question to you is:
What adhesive do you use that STAYS stuck even after several months of
being in a box, pile, basket, etc.???
I'll be giving away an 'itty-bitty' blog candy to one special someone
whose name I draw from comments from today's post.
If you are a blog follower, you can comment twice, for two entries!
Auntie Em was my last itty-bitty candy winner!
She won some clear stamps from the dollar bins at JoAnne's crafts.
All righty - can't wait to hear your answers!!!!
Winner of the 'itty bitty candy' will be chosen on Monday - good luck!
I love the Glue Arts Adhesive. I have the Glue Glider Pro, and they make a ribbon adhesive that is fantastic. They came out with extreme glue squares too...which are great for "heavier" embellishements on both cards and LOs.
ReplyDeleteI use my atg gun and order my strong adhesive from U-Line here in WI. There is the pink ATG in the Micheal's store and you can use a coupon to buy.
ReplyDeleteI don't care for their tape as much as the aggressive one I order. It can be used with any of the ATG guns.
I actually did a couple posts on my favorite tapes last year.
I also love the TomBow tape runners for quick projects.
I use the glue glider and order it from Joan's garden. She has a special from time to time, buy 1 get 1 for a buck! Way cool! It's the best I've used so far. Each refill has 40ft of adhesive. I see now they have 60ft of adhesive!
ReplyDeleteMost of the time i use Anita's tacky glue. For bigger item i use glossy accent and for much bigger i use my glue gun. I also use double sided tape for paper.

First of all, Rosie is ADORABLE!! What a sweet girl she is! As far as adhesive goes, ATG is the way to go. I've heard this from several and finally got one just before Christmas. It's the pink one and Michaels carries it for 39.99. If you get it from JoAnn the regular price is 29.99 AND you can use a coupon. (Mikes wont take a coupon for this item) It took me years to jump on the ATG bandwagon and now I wish I had done it sooner. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeletei was using the adtech permanent dot runner for a long time, and i was very happy with it...until i moved in may and realized that about 50% of my stash cards were falling to pieces! i was so disappointed! so this summer i invested in an atg, i got the pink one from Michaels with a coupon and now when i have a coupon, i go buy refills, makes them pretty cheap...one roll of adhesive lasts me a good long time too
ReplyDeletegood luck finding the perfect sticky ;)
Isn't it fun all these different glues, never knew there were so many......... I too have received really beautifully made cards only to find the papers coming off at the edges, such a shame after all the hard work that has gone into them. Most of these have been affixed with double sided tape or like. Annette x
ReplyDeletewell, adtech doesn't work for me, neither does stampin' up (which really isn't bad); duck glue stick is FABULOUS and lately i've been using duck double sided tape (found for $1.89 at menards). the red tape, if you ask me, is the ultimate best as is scor-pal tape. so that's my story and i'm stickin' too it.
ReplyDeletehugs :)
Thank you again for the awesome stamps you sent to me! They are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear you like your printer. I haven't had a HP since I worked at the office but it was a good sturdy printer and printed very nice crisp images.
As for adhesives, if there is any question at all of it falling apart, I either design it with brads or use a good size glue dot. I haven't yet found a glue stick that is good on anything other than just plain copy paper and even a lot of the tape runners will come loose if the conditions are perfect for storage.
If the item to be glued down is light, I have used Ranger's Matte Accents but they have stopped producing them. The glossy will stick but it leaves a shiny spot if it leaks around the item.
Good luck and I will be interested to find out the winner!
BTW, what's your favourite cutter bar???
Thanks for sharing! :o)
Hi Patti....what a good choice in printers hon...I don't think you can ever go wrong with an HP product...adhesive...I use a lot of score tape from Scor Pal....that stuff never comes unglued!!! Sometimes I get frustrated if I make a mistake using it cause there is no pulling it apart and correcting! But it makes me take my time and does its job!

Well, I'm going to buck the trend here and tell you that, assuming I'm using fairly heavy papers, I use Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive. It's a liquid glue, but dries very fast. You don't need much, just a thin line so there is little chance of warping. I've pulled out cards that I made over 3 years ago and they are still together! I've got tons of other adhesives that I use for various things, but for just sticking all the layers together, this is my go to!

Glue Glider and Scor-Tape, it's pricey but hey, it works the best!!!!
ReplyDeleteI generally don't have problem with Tombow glue tape (for paper), white glue (for dimensional objects) and modge podge (for fussy cut papers). Stuff that don't hold up well are glue dots.
ReplyDeleteMy fave go to adhesive is Double Sided Tape. I've used various brands and they all seem pretty much the same. Interesting to read the comments about some adhesives I haven't used yet.
ReplyDeleteI use Scor-tape and Glue Glider mostly and also TomBow adhesive runner for quick projects. I do not like glues...too messy for me...
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you found an printer that works so well and I liked that price too!
what a great question...I use anything and everything! glue/tape runners in a blue thingy and a red thingy, I think there's a little duck on the one. I use double sided tape (3M) and anything I win in blog candies and goodie bags! lol I would like to have one of the fabulously big tape runners that look like they weigh at least a pound!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check back to see what the 'winner' adhesive is!
HUGS!
Oh I'm so sorry I missed your post. I hope your HP ink does ok with your copics. I had a friend who really struggled with that. If anyone ever ask you ... the ink does not bleed with Epson ink when you use Copics. Let me know how yours work out. I don't want to tell people that if it's not true. Maybe they have improved their ink in the last couple of years.
ReplyDeleteAdhesive ... whenever I can, I go cheap ... Aleene's Tacky Glue, 1.47 at walmart. However you have to be very careful if you put it on thin paper, it will warp it. But I'm used to using it. But when I'm working with then paper I lean toward my EZ Runner by Scrapbook Adhesive, but that's pricey so I recently started using one of the cheap versions of an ATG gun. You can get it at Micheals with a 40% off coupon. You have to get used to it though. I struggle with the adhesive clumping sometimes, but I'm getting better with it. And on the inside the roll doesn't stay straight which effects the way it comes across the roller on the outside, so I have to push it back alot. But they may not all do that. I have a good friend who uses a fancier one and she LOVES it, says she has done the math and that she saves money. Too much info, teehee, but you did ask!
Have a fun weekend my friend!

I use the Tombow mono adhesive. I can get the refills at Michaels and AC Moore which works for me, because they're both down the road and I don't always plan ahead and can run out at a moments notice. And cards that I have here and haven't mailed for months and years (shame on me) don't fall apart as long as I wasn't chintzy with it. I've heard wonderful things about the ATG gun, just haven't tried it because like you I'm on a budget! Good luck with the search...
ReplyDeleteI mostly use DST, but I don't have any 'old' cards in my stash, so I don't really know how it stays stuck! I'll be reading these posts with interest to see what I should be using!
ReplyDeleteSee, this is what I get for making my rounds only once a week! For what it is worth, I too have gone with the ATG. Used my Michael's coupon. I hated it at first, but now I am hooked. I thought it was going to be awkward to use because of it's bulk, but it is surprisingly easy. I now end up using most of my 40% coupons for the refills, and they do last a long time. My only problem. . .it's PINK! Oh well. . .Best, Curt
