Greetings!

Greetings, my crafty friends!

I needed a fun, but simple card to send to our son and his wife, after
they had honeymooned in Paris.  What better set than this
A Muse Studio 'c'est la vie'?

I love the sheer simplicity of this one. I created it while having a crafty day with
my dear friend, Shirley!

I'm going to join in on the challenge at Blessings Ink this week, which is
'Anything Goes', using A Muse stamps.

Inks, cardstock and stamps are all A Muse products.

Hope you are off to a great week, so far!

Thanks for stopping by,

Happy Mother's Day!

Hello!

Well, here I am with my Saturday morning post for Great Impressions...
where did the week go?

This week, the Great Impressions' Design Team has been showcasing some beautiful projects for Mother's Day. I had fun this week, stamping, coloring, fussy cutting, and creating with some wonderful GI stamps.

Here's what I made:

I stamped the sentiment directly onto the patterned paper. The image was stamped onto a piece of white card stock, colored with Copic Markers, and die cut with some nesting dies. I tied a ribbon around the card, and added the layered focal panel with foam squares for some dimension.
A few pretty sequins topped this card off perfectly.

For my next project, I used Great Impressions H251 Tall Tulips.

Here is a front view of the card.

This view from the side gives a much better perspective of how many tulips there are in this box card!

The back of the card has white card stock, to enable a message to be added.

Here, I am beginning to collapse the box.

This view shows the card completely flat, and ready for mailing.
I found the box card template at Splitcoaststampers, and liked it because it is larger than an A2 card, which allows for a whole LOT of tulips! There are A2 measurements with the directions, but I chose to go with the larger dimensions. The tulips were stamped, colored, and fussy cut about 6 times, to make this beautiful bouquet. I hope the recipient likes it!

If you haven't checked out the GI Blog this week, be sure to go back to Sunday, and see what yummy projects my DT sisters have shared. You will be SO inspired!

Don't forget - about the GI challenges!
A fun challenge for April is still going on.

Repeat Impressions Sketch Challenge - Have a Ball!

Hello!
It's Wednesday again, and our challenge at the The House that Stamps Built
is one of Wendy's amazing sketches.  I love working with a great
sketch - what a fun way to use scraps, and stamps that fit into the sketch
'just right'.

Here is Wendy's sketch:

Here's my card:

One of the things I love best about Wendy's sketches, is that I can print them off in exact A2 size, and am able to measure each piece, so there is no
guesswork.

I thought this card turned out so well - it will be a delightful greeting for someone special!  If you click to enlarge it, you'll see the Wink of Stella
accents, and the wee gemstones in each corner of the polka dot panel.

Hope it gave you a bit of a smile!

Get your MoJo going, and come join in our challenge!
Remember, you don't HAVE to use Repeat Impressions Stamps,
but if you do, you have double the chance of winning!

Annie's Crafts - Product Review

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Elyse, the Video Classes Assistant, at Annie’s Crafts, asking if I would like to do a product review on one of their on-line classes.

I’m here today to share my product review with you.

Annie’s Crafts has a very nice catalog of on-line classes, and it was hard to choose one to review. The class that I am reviewing today, is ‘Learn to Make Interactive Cards’.

You all know me pretty well, and when I saw that the description of the class offered cards that pop-up, spin, slide, shake, and swing, you know that I was all in!

In all, the videos total a shade under 4.5 hours. The instructor is Megan Hoeppner, who is a very talented, well-known leader in the paper-crafting industry. It is obvious that Megan loves the art of paper-crafting, and is delighted to share her tips and tricks with her viewers. Megan is also very easy to understand - she speaks very clearly, enunciating her words well. If English is not your first language, you will easily follow Megan’s instructions.

Annie’s on-line classes are available in either a downloadable or DVD version.  I chose to download my class.  I love that I can watch a few minutes of video, and that when I am interrupted, the video can be resumed from the point that I stopped it.  No need to scroll through to find your place!  The classes include printable PDF patterns, as well as the video.

This class features 10 interactive cards that spin, pop, move, shake, slide, (and more), for any occasion.  You will also get to see some popular paper-crafting mediums put to work – such as Washi Tape, Punches, Indigo Ink, Watercolor Pencils, die cuts, enamel dots, and others. You will be able to easily use supplies that you already have on hand.

One of my favorite lessons was the Birthday in a Bag. I had several of these bags on hand, and couldn’t wait to experiment!

I’ve been making cards for many years, therefore, the techniques in the video were not new to me. However, I either learned something new from each lesson, or remembered a technique or card-making idea that I had forgotten!  This class would be fun for paper-crafters of all levels, and I would very highly recommend it for those that are new to the hobby.

I am eager to try more of the on-line classes at Annie’s Crafts!

Would YOU like to win your own copy of this class?
Elyse has generously offered up a copy to one lucky reader!
Simply leave a comment on this post - that's all!
One lucky winner will be randomly chosen - the winner
will be announced here on Sunday, April 26th - good luck!!!

If you have not seen the selection of classes they offer, be sure to check out their website!  Classes are not limited to card-making – they also offer classes on coloring, knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, beading and jewelry making, and more!

Thanks for stopping by!

Coming Your Way...

Hello!
Can you believe it's the third Saturday in April already?
This month has flown by.

It's my day for posting on the Great Impressions Blog,
and what a fun image this was to work with!

For this card, the following Great Impressions Stamps were used:

The Center Step Card seemed perfect for this darling little puppy.
First, the image was stamped directly onto the center panel.
The flowers, greenery, and butterflies were colored with Copics.
I sponged some green 'grass', and some blue clouds, and then stamped the sentiment.
The image was stamped again onto a white CS scrap.
It was colored, then the dog and one butterfly were fussy cut, and adhered with dimensional
foam pieces to the center panel. The foam pieces gave his such a realistic appearance!
The last step was to find a cute patterned paper, and cut some strips for the sides and
bottom panels.

As you can see, this image requires very little coloring, and looks so sweet!

Don't forget - about the GI challenges!
A fun challenge for April is going on now.

Be sure to stop by the Great Impressions store (HERE) and treat yourself to a few new stamps!

Hang in there...

Hi there, everyone!
It's time for a new photo inspiration challenge at The House that Stamps Built.
What a fitting photo - it's been raining and raining here. Wish we could
bottle it up and send it to our friends and family in California!

Our challenge was to create something using this photo for our inspiration:

Photo inspirations are my least favorite challenges - I have a really tough
time knowing what to do.  I decided to just play off of the colors and abstract sort
of squiggly shadows.  The photo made me feel a bit somber, so I chose a saying to match
my mood!

Here's what I made, using some distress inks, a stencil, some dies, and some black and gold twine.
The stamps I used were: Repeat Impressions 8619-E Tomorrow, and Repeat Impressions 9009-F Butterfly (sm).

I hope that you feel inspired to grab this inspiration photo, and join in our challenge!
Remember, you don't HAVE to use Repeat Impressions Stamps,
but if you do, you have double the chance of winning!

Now, it's time to see what my DT friends have created!

Flying Kites

Hello!

Hope you are all well today!
I needed a birthday card for a dear friend, and wanted to play a bit
with this new Die-Versions "Flying Kites" Whispers DV-441.

Once again, I cut the die from the background paper, and again from
three designer papers, and cut and pieced them into the die
opening on the blue background.  Rather than to fussy cut all of the bows,
I used a marker and colored them.  After coloring I dotted them with
my Sakura white gel pen.  Easy peasy!

This technique is a bit time consuming, but I find it therapeutic, and think
it makes such a fun statement...AND is flat for mailing!

What do you think?

Hope you enjoyed this card, and will give this technique a try!

The fun sentiment seemed perfect - it's by Unity Stamps.

Be sure to check out the Die-Versions blog each day for inspiration,
and check out the Die-Versions store for new products, sales, and lots of
temptations!

Thanks for stopping by!

Call me...

Hi there!

I thought I'd play today 'just because'!!!

The challenge at Unity Stamps this month is to use one of two sketches, OR
this inspirational photo, OR this color combination!

I decided to work with the color combinations - those pretty little pennants
along the right side.

There was a fun sketch at Sketch Saturday that looked like fun,
so I took a wee bit of liberty with it.  Here is the Sketch Saturday Sketch:

And, here is what I created:

It was fun creating a card just for the fun of creating!

Hope you are having a great weekend - thanks for stopping by!

Get Well Louie!

Happy Saturday!
So glad you could drop by today!

I was in need of a get well card, so my post today features some fun get well stamps

I used Get Well Louie G520, and Just Duckin' C476 for this fun little
center easel card.

To create this card, I covered the card front with some designer paper from an old DCWV pad, and set it aside.

The image was then stamped on white cardstock twice, and once on each of three patterned papers.

One of the white panels was used as my base.

The other white panel was where I colored the Louie, and fussy cut all of his pieces!
The beak and feet have glossy accents on them.

Also fussy cut, were the bed frames, pillow, and blanket.

Once the pieces were all cut, they were adhered to the white panel, trimmed, and matted.

Once I knew what size the focal panel was, I cut the card front on each end, and glued the small side strips down on the card, leaving the center section swinging free.  It was scored in half, and the
focal panel adhered to it.

The last step was to stamp and mat the sentiment.
It was adhered to the card using dimensional foam, and happily holds the easel piece upright!

Here is a photo showing the card flat for mailing in an A2 envelope.
