Fun with Fonts...

Hello!
Can you believe it's the last Friday in November?
Seems this year has just flown by.

I'm here today with a post showcasing two of the Die-Versions amazing
font and word dies.  After I created the Ho Ho Ho frame last week,
I decided to look for some more fun words to work with.

For these projects, I used Die-Versions "Elegance" Font DV-411

For this card, the word 'greetings' was carefully trimmed away from the word 'seasons'.
When adhered to the card front, I placed it straight on the card, rather than at an angle.
Now I have a card that can be used for any occasion!

These next two projects were so much fun! Michael's had these little frames in their $1.50 bin.
I purchased three of them!  Here are two, that are all ready for the holidays.
Please pardon the photos - I just can't seem to get rid of glare - my CRoffice has
several sections of 4' ceiling lights.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the fun that words and fonts can be!

Be sure to follow the Die-Versions Blog, for daily inspiration, and we'd
love for you to shop at Die-Versions!  A little Christmas 'to me, from me', right?

Thanks for stopping by,
Patti J.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This says it so well...

Here is hoping that your day is filled with the blessings of family, friends, love and laughter.
Hope it also holds a bit of turkey, stuffing, potatoes and gravy, and so much more.
And...pumpkin pie would be a great way to end your wonderful day!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all...

Hugs and blessings,

Repeat Impressions Sketch Challenge - Brewed Quartet

Hello!

It's nearly Thanksgiving, and I hope that you are all going to be able to enjoy some special family time.  We are having friends in, as none of our kids can make it in for the holiday.
We are looking forward to a nice day.

It's time for another Repeat Impressions Sketch Challenge at The House that Stamps Built!

Here is Wendy's great sketch:

And...here is what I made:

There is an entire page of 'Quartet' stamps at Repeat Impressions!
For this card, I used '8512-U Brewed Quartet'.
The stamp actually comes as a square, with all four pieces in sort of a grid.
I stamped the image, and then very carefully cut each piece out and rounded
corners to achieve this pattern.

Hope you like it!
Hop over to the Repeat Impressions store, and see what other quartets are wanting
to come live with you!!!

I hope you'll check out my fellow Rock Stars' blogs, to see what they did with this fun sketch!

Repeat Impressions Project of the Week - Monochromatic Stamping

Hello!

Okay, I have a confession to make.
Monochromatic cards inspire me SO much, but scare me even more!
I have a really hard time getting myself psyched up to create one!
It's funny what intimidates us, right?

Anyway...when it became my turn to post a Project of the Week at The House that Stamps Built,
this just had to be my technique!

I apologize for the photos.  I have some bright halogen lights above my work area, and I simply could not get any shots that were without glare.

For this card, I used two beautiful Repeat Impression Stamps, '2101-Q Santa over Portland Head Light', and '2208-G Warmest Holiday.  The Portland Head image is also available without the Santa.
Repeat Impressions has a whole page of Lighthouse images that are gorgeous...be sure to check them out!

My first step was to decide what color I wanted to work with. Dark blue won out,
so the first step was to stamp the image.

Next, the sentiment needed to be added.  When stamping, the Stamp-a-ma-jig is worth it's weight
in gold.  There is no guess work - the stamping goes exactly where you want it.

Next, using the same color ink that you've stamped with, do some sponging
to add depth to your image.  Always use a circular motion, and begin your sponging
off of the cardstock, working in.

I left a bit of light area, hoping to achieve the look of a pretty sky.

After matting on black cardstock, and adhering the panel to a card front,
out came the glitter!  I used a Martha Stewart glue pen (only because my Tombow
ran out!!!), and added a bit of 'snow and ice' to the image.

Here is the finished card.

One more view - hope you can see the sparkle!

Thanks for stopping by today!
Hope you'll do a bit of browsing and shopping at Repeat Impressions today!
Check out my sidebar for a link to save on your order!

Hugs,
Patti J.

Volunteers Needed...

Hello!

As some of you may know, I am a Chemo/Senior Angel.
A few years ago, my friend Shirley, kept talking about sending cards and little gift packages,
as part of an Angel program.
After asking her some questions, I decided that this was a program that I wanted to be
a part of.  I have more cards than I can donate, mail, or sell in any given month,
and I love to do nice things for others, so I signed up.
What a blessing it's been to send weekly greetings to someone undergoing
Chemo treatments, or to lonely senior citizens that need a smile.

As you will see in the notice I've cut and pasted below, they are in need of
volunteers.  If any of you cardmakers need a nice way to use those cards you create,
please consider this organization.

There are a few options you can choose - you can become 'just' a card angel, sending cards and an occasional gift, only.  You can become a Chemo angel, sending cards AND gifts.
You can choose to work with Chemo folks, or seniors, and you can choose man, woman, or child.
You can work with any race or religious preference....these folks will match you up with someone you feel comfortable working with.

One thing that you need to know before applying - this is something that you do with absolutely NO promise of anything in return.  Sometimes, you will get a nice note from your 'buddy', or a member of their family, but most times, you just send and send, and never hear a thing. It's a true RAK, and I think that is what makes it so fulfilling.

Anyway, here is the link - please consider checking them out and becoming a fellow angel!

New Volunteers Needed
Both Chemo Angels and Senior Angels are growing at a rapid pace right now, and we are in great need of new volunteers. If you know anyone who would make a great angel, please share our website,www.chemoangels.com,  and invite them to apply.  We appreciate your help!

Thanks for stopping by,
Patti J.

Gotta love a girl's day in!

Howdy, ya'll...

A few weeks ago, I got a call from my friend Shirley, who invited me over to
play in her amazing girl cave.  Since I didn't want to hurt her feelings,
I forced myself to go spend an afternoon creating cards.

Do you believe that?  Lol...I didn't give Shirley time to reconsider - I just
jumped in the car, put the pedal to the metal, and went zoom zoom.
We only live about five minutes away, so I think I was at her
door before she hung up the phone!  Anyway, she had some fun
cards all ready to create, and two of the cards we made:

Edit:  Gail asked me to share dimensions!  I trimmed here and there, until I had my panels and things the size that I wanted them, but here's what mine measures:
White card base = 6.5" x 4.5", scored at 1"
Striped background = 5 1/8 x 4"
Red 'card' = 9.5" x 3/75"
Inside panel = 3.25" x 4 3/16"
Front panel = 4.25" x 3.25"

So happy that you dropped by today!

I'll be back on Monday with the Project of the Week

Be sure to check out Wendy's sale - she's thankful for you, her customers, and wants to pass along some savings!  See yesterday's post for details!

On another note - we've attended two funerals this week.  Life is so short.
Please remember to say 'I love you' to those special people in your lives. We never
know when we may never have another opportunity.

Hugs...
Patti J.

Geri's Designer's Choice Challenge

Hello, and a very happy Wednesday to you all!

Today is the beginning of a new Designer's Choice Challenge at The House That Stamps Built!
Geri Utterback is our amazingly talented challenge hostess this time,
and she has provided a gorgeous inspirational photo to work from.

Isn't it pretty?  The lime green just made me so happy!

Here is my take on the inspiration photo:

Repeat Impressions '3814-K Ornament Frame', Repeat Impressions '2202-G May the Miracle', Martha Stewart Border Punch, white cardstock, ribbon from my stash.
I had some pretty green glitter paper in my stash, as well as some metallic silver scraps, which I used to mimic the mirrored base under Geri's ornament.

Thanks for stopping by!

I hope you'll visit my fellow Rock Stars to see what they've created with Geri's inspiration - I've
seen some sneak peeks, and oh, my goodness - there are some beautiful cards to see!

Have a good day,

Ho, Ho, Ho!

Hello, and happy Monday!

I'm here to share an altered item today, that was created for my Die-Versions post.
I wanted to create with my new 'Elegance' Font.  While at a local craft show last
weekend, a friend and I saw the cutest newsprint project using Fa La La...

So....what other little words pertain to Christmas? Yep!  Ho, Ho, Ho!!!

This is another Dollar Store find - it was $2 and started out as an unfinished three window frame.
It was a fun project - hope you like it!

Die Versions "Elegance" Font DV-411
Here's what I did:

A coat of red paint
Some Amuse printed cardstock
Some cute patterned paper
Some black, red, silver, and white cardstock
Lots of Tombow adhesives!!!
A last minute touch of fluffy stuff on the hat, and voila!
An old buckle punch, and a couple of circle punches

Voila!
A fun and festive holiday decoration!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hope you'll do a bit of shopping at Die-Versions - love their dies!!!
And, be sure to sign up to follow the Die-Versions blog, where you will find daily
inspiration 'to die for'!!!

I'm entering this in the challenge at Tombow, which is to take a Dollar Store item and alter it for a Christmas gift!  Edit - waited too long - won't be entering at Tombow after all.  Sad face here :(

Hugs,
Patti J.

Creations by AR Bottle of Cheer

Good morning...hope you are all staying warm!
The cold front is making it's way into our area already - brrrrrr.....!

I'm just popping in today to show you something incredibly fun that Adela from
Creations by AR has designed.  This great template is called
'Bottle of Cheer', and it would bring cheer to anyone receiving it!

My little 'Bottle of Cheer' was inspired by this gorgeous bottle of wine that
our son and beautiful daughter-in-law, brought us back from Paris,
where they honeymooned in September.

I loved the maroon wrapping over the cork, so my bottle is maroon.
Also catching my eye, was the pretty gold on the label, so my labels are matted with gold cardstock.

Both label shapes are included in the template!

This photo shows my 'Bottle of Cheer' in use as a test tube holder. The test tube is filled with Hugs and Kisses.

The next photo shows the bottle without the center insert.  The box
is filled with candy for a lucky recipient!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Check out Creations by AR for some
amazing templates to spark your creativity!

Patti J.

So Grateful...

Good morning!

I'm here today with another post for Die-Versions!

My uber-exciting package from Die-Versions for November, included a fabulous new font!
I couldn't wait to get creative with it.  A while back, I found some bargains at our
local Dollar General store.  Don't you just LOVE bargains?

I chose to create with the one above today.
(it was actually on sale 50% off, making it a $1.00 bargain!)

Some pretty fall designer papers, leaves, and yummy vanilla scented candles were used,
and...

Here is the end result:

Candles not lit yet...

Lights out - candles lit!
Look at that beautiful font!  I totally LOVE this, and can see myself using it many times in the future!  It's called Die-Versions "Elegance" Font DV-411.  It contains upper and lower case letters, numbers, and I think 11 punctuation marks!  Talk about a bargain!  The font pieces are sized from 1/4" to 1/2", and fall out of the die so beautifully!

Thanks for stopping by today!

I hope that you will do some shopping at the Die-Versions website, and
hopefully follow the Die-Versions blog, for lots of daily inspiration!

Happy Friday, and have a great weekend!
Patti J.

Time to be thankful...

Hello!
Happy Wednesday to you all.

It's time for another DCC (Designer's Choice Challenge) at The House That Stamps Built,
and I'm the lucky designer this time around.  Since it's November, it seemed fitting
to do a 'Thankful' theme.  I'm thankful for so many things!

Here's my card:

Repeat Impressions '5127-K Maple Leaf Sil'., Repeat Impressions '3213-G For the Beauty', cardstock, bow, and bling are from my stash. Image and sentiment stamped with Versafine Brown Ink.
I just had to pull out Wendy's lovely leaf again.
(My next Repeat Impressions order is going to include more nature stamps!)
It just stamps so beautifully.  I've stamped directly onto some
patterned cardstock, and love the way it looks.

I can't wait to hop around and see what my fellow Rock Stars have created!  Hope you'll join me!

Cheri     Deonna     Geri     Joy     Melissa     Karen

After you've hopped, and are full of inspiration, jump right in and create something that says 'Thanks, Thank You, Thankful, etc., and link it up in our DCC Challenge at The House That Stamps Built!
We are looking forward to seeing your beautiful entries!

Thanks for stopping by,

I'm thankful for all of you!

Get Well

Hi there!

It's a brisk Tuesday morning, and I'm here with a post for Die-Versions today.
My package for November came, and this Get Well die was one of the new items.
I couldn't wait to create with it!  Here's what I made:

Die-Versions "Get Well" CutOut DV-419, Die-Versions "Pretty Wings" Whispers DVW-383

For the Butterfly, I first die cut the entire butterfly from the blue cardstock.  I saved the butterfly for another project (yay!!!) and die cut it again from black cardstock.  I put some score tape across the back of the blue sheet, turned it over, and added the black butterfly.  Fine irridescent glitter was sprinkled on top of the butterfly, catching all of the spots that were just 'tape'.

The Get Well is fabulous alone, or with an image, or another die.  It was die cut from blue, and matted with black.  I intended to trim the top layer, and mat it in black also, but simply forgot! Do any of you have days like that?

Hope you like it - it's such a joy working with these dies. Not only do they cut like butter, but they are coated with something magic that allows the dies to fall out so easily.  The butterfly is so intricate, that I do have to 'help' it a bit, but it's a favorite!

Hope you'll become a follower of the Die-Versions Blog, and do some shopping at the Website!

Thanks for stopping by,
Hugs,
Patti J.
