Happy Anniversary & Happy Birthday!

It's Monday.
Rainy, and dreary, and cold Monday's make me want to create something! How about you?

We had a movie date with another couple last night. They had an Anniversary of 43 years, so we wanted to take them a card.  I had seen a card like this one by Monika Davis, and sketched out the general idea. I knew it was exactly what I wanted to use for this card.  I've tried for over an hour today to find the link to this card, but can't seem to find it.  Please do check out Monika's blog - she's a wonderful artist, and I enjoy each and every one of her posts!  You can find her blog HERE.  Monika's card had some pretty pearls, but I decided to leave it very simple!

Hammermill White 100# CS, Michael's $1 bin stamp, lace from local craft shop, musical scrap from DCWV paper pack, rose from JoAnn's crafts, Red DP and Black Baker's twine from Amuse Studio.

So, last night's movie date...we saw 'Lincoln', and it wasa typical Spielberg masterpiece.
So realistic - but what really struck me was that even though some of the issues were different,
the conflicts between Democrats and Republicans,
the divided 'house', etc., existed even that long ago.  We will probably see it again!

32 years ago today, we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl.
Happy Birthday, Melissa - we love you!

Thanks for stopping by today - have a wonderful week!

Hugs,
Patti J.

T.G.I.F.

Happy Friday!
Today is full of errands, so this will be a short post.
I saw that the Simon Says Stamp challenge this week was to use paper piecing,
and I totally LOVE to paper piece, so couldn't pass that one up!

Since I needed to use stamps that can be found at Simon Says Stamp...
Meet 'Sweet Thinkin' Mae' from the Some Odd Girl collection.
I thought she paper pieced quite nicely.

Some Odd Girl "Sweet Thinkin Mae" , Amuse Heart Dies, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Copic markers, Doodlebug 'Sweet Cakes' Designer Paper Pad, Adhesive, Dimensional Foam, Colorbok CS, Hammermill 100# CS.
Hope that your weekend is relaxing, and that you make time for you!

Thanks for stopping by today...
Hugs,
Patti J.

You're Only as Strong...

Hello, and Happy Thursday!
As it's Thursday, it's my day to post on the Great Impressions Stamps Blog.
Today, I am sharing a couple of stamps from the December Stamps of the Month.
The first thing that I do each morning, is stumble to the coffee pot, so this stamp really called out to me!
The 'coffee' was embellished with a bit of Glossy Accents, making it look a bit more realistic.

Great Impressions Stamps: E-777 Only as Strong, F537 Steaming Cups

Many of our friends have been through some pretty tough ordeals, and I hope
this sentiment brings them a smile or two!  I stamped the sentiment twice,
putting one line on the front, and the rest on the inside.
Inside Sentiment

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Delicious Wishes

Hi there, and Happy Tuesday!

Hope that your holiday weekend was as wonderful as ours!  I'll share in a moment...

I saw that the challenge at the Impression-Obsession blog this week was 'Sweet Thoughts', and here is the card that I made for the challenge:

Impression Obsession Stamps: B3728, Delicious Wishes, Memento Rich Cocoa Dye Ink, Recollections Pearl Flourishes, Spellbinders Dies, My Mind's Eye 'Love Me' Gingham Background DP, American Crafts DP, Dimensional Foam, Ribbon: Amuse Studio, Adhesive

Two mason jars were cut out of the DP, one for the jar itself, and one for just a lid, which was cut out and popped up on dimensional foam, with some pleated ribbon under the edge.

So, onto the weekend!

We were blessed to be able to fly out to Phoenix for our daughter and son-in-law's party, and had such a great time.  We met friends and Nick's friends and family, and of course, seeing Nick (our SIL) after a 9 month deployment was a joy in itself!
Our son, and his beautiful lady were also able to fly in from California, and it was such a blessing to meet her. This was the first time in well over a year that the four of us were together at the same time.

Here are a few photos of the food tables - never did get one that day of the beautiful couple!
Nick's mom, Jan, and his sister, Jessica, worked so hard in preparation for this event, and it was amazing. The food was delicious, and beautiful, as well.  Jan and Jess, if you are reading, thank you SO much!

On Sunday, Melissa, our amazing daughter, ran her first-ever full marathon.  She has run many half-marathons and other races over the last 9 months, literally, 'running her way through deployment', and decided to run this full marathon with Nick home to cheer her on, as a way of finishing that chapter of their lives and getting ready to begin a new chapter.

Anyway, this is why I've been AWOL again for a several days!  We had no computer with us, so I couldn't even read email!!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

See you soon :)

A couple of cute chicks!

Good morning!

Today is my day to post for the Great Impressions Stamps Blog.
This has been such an incredibly fun month, so far!

I signed up this month to do a Card Swap with Bazzill Papers.  I made ten Valentine's Cards, using the papers that were sent to me.  As soon as I saw the papers, I knew without a doubt, that I wanted to use these cute chicks on my cards!

Stamps: Great Impressions B189 'Love Chicks', D364 "Happy Valentines and Flowers', Bazzill Basics 'Red Devil' DP, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Copic Markers, Black Colorbok Cardstock, Perfect Layers Tools

This was an easy card to create - DH actually cut strips of cardstock for me while I colored...
how cool is that?  And seriously, how can you look at these darling chicks, and that
delightful sentiment without smiling?  Used my Perfect Layers Tools for the nice straight borders (check out my sidebar for details).

Don't forget - you can be the next Guest Designer at the Great Impressions Stamps Blog!
You still have lots of time to take part in the January challenge.  Check out the blog for all of the fun details!  What a great experience it's been - the ladies have all welcomed me so warmly.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Hugs,
Patti J.

Where have I been, you ask?

Well, you're right, I haven't posted in a couple of days!
You know it's bad when your email is dinging like crazy with friends checking
to be sure you're okay!
Thank you all for checking on me!

Here's what I've been up to!

Our daughter's in-laws are hosting a party for our dear daughter, and son-in-law this weekend.
As you may recall, they were married the first weekend in Feb. of 2012, and he deployed the last weekend for 9 months.  He's back safe and sound (yippee!), and this is a reception for them.
On the menu are various wonderful sandwiches, side dishes, and of course, cupcakes!
Yum...did I mention cupcakes?
I've been making some little cupcake flags, and food placecards, and thought that I'd share them with you!

These are what the placecards look like...

Here are the flags - front says something 'sweet', and back has the couple's name.
Thanks to my great friend, Shirley for coming over this morning to help me finish these up! The 'sticking' goes so much faster when I have someone to jabber with!
Here are all 108 Flags, and 10 Place Cards.
I have to give a huge shout-out to Laurie Wilson, at Doodle Pantry, who helped me so much, but taking my 'random thoughts', and translating them to the beautiful computer files that you see here! Even the dotted cardstock is printed from files that she designed.  If ever you need something like this, Laurie is your go-to gal!  She's talented, quick, and patient!  Thanks, Laurie!

Thanks for stopping by today!

OOPS!  Nearly forgot!
Don't forget - you still have 15 days to take part in the Great Impressions Stamps Sketch Challenge!  As of earlier today, there are only SIX entries!  Now, I'm not a math major, but that sounds like pretty dandy odds!

You need not use GI stamps, but if you have them and use them, you are entered twice in the drawing!  A randomly drawn winner will get to shop at the Great Impressions Stamps Store for $20 worth of yumminess!!!  AND....you can apply to be a Guest Designer!  Check out the blog for details...

Have a Fantastic Day!

Hello!
Hope you all had a great weekend.
Ours was simply not long enough...
I think that our weekend should be 5 days, and our work week 7.
When they put me in charge, I'll be sure to fix that!

I needed a quick card for my chemo lady, and saw the challenge at Simon Says Stamp was to use black, white, and a splash of another color.  So...here is my black and white card!

Hero Arts: CG140 Poppy Background, Hero Arts CL578 Good Friends, Memento Tuxedo Black Dye Ink, Copic BG10, Hammermill 100# CS, Perfect Layers Rulers
Edited:  I'm so sorry that I didn't post directions for this card.  This was a 5.5 x 5.5 square card base of Hammermill 100# cardstock.  The image was stamped on a scrap of the Hammermill, and cut out, exactly on the black border.  I then matted on the teal, then adhered the panel to the card front.  The flowers were colored with Copic Marker BG10, and the image was stamped below.  Please feel free to email me if you need more info!

Used Perfect Layers Rulers for my borders (see sidebar for details).
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great week!

Hugs,
Patti J.

Molly Loves Lattes

Hello, and happy middle of the week to you all!

Today has been busy, busy, busy, but I do have something sweet to share.
Meet Molly.... Molly is one of the sweet images from The Digi Garden.
This one is called Molly Loves Lattes.
If you haven't checked out all of the cute digi's over there, you should!  Cuteness galore!

She's all colored up with Copic's, and the fun DP is a pack that I got free from Bazzill, for signing up a while back, to participate in a February swap. Used my Perfect Layers Tools for perfect mats! See sidebar for details...

Jan S., if you are reading, I'm SO busted!  Needed a piece of turquoise ribbon....'nuff said???  lol...

The sentiment is an OLD stamp from Great Impressions.  I'm guessing it was retired many years ago, but it's still one of my all time 'go-to' stamps.

Have a good night!

I'll be by to check on all of you after supper!

Hugs,
Patti J.

Faith Wings...

Hello, friends!
Hopefully, your week is off to a good start!
Life is always good here...no complaints!

I needed a card for someone at church that is struggling with health issues, and thought I'd share it with you.

Stamps Used:  Impression-Obsession Faith Wings D13004, Bird Collage 4 E13046, and Tapestry Banner E8822

The banner was stamped three times, and colored with Copic Markers. These were matted with Bazzill cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped and matted, and framed with some bling from my stash. The bird was stamped twice, and colored with Copics.  I then fussy cut, and adhered the first bird with dimensional foam.  I cut out only the flower from the second bird, and added it with dimensional foam. A bit of Glossy Accents finished off the flower.  My Perfect Layers Tools finished my edges beautifully! (See my sidebar to check these out!)

The challenge at the Impression-Obsession blog is a "Your Choice Challenge", so I'm entering this card there!

Thanks for stopping by - have a great week!

Blessings,
Patti J.

On Your Feet...

Happy Sunday!
Today begins a new monthly challenge at the Great Impressions Stamps Blog.
This month, the challenge is a sketch by Erin.  I had a great time working with this fun sketch!

Here is Erin's great sketch!
I chose to work Great Impressions 'On Your Feet Soon' C437, and 'Duck Feet' F531.

All coloring is done with Copic markers.  The feet were stamped twice, and fussy cut. The second set was added with dimensional foam.  Hope you can see the dimension of the 'badge', and then the 'feet'.  The DP was from a DCWV paper pad that my dear friend Shirley brought me back from a trip to the city. My Perfect Layers Tools were used to create the beautiful straight mats and layers!  Use the code Gilliam5% to save!

We would love to see YOUR take on this delightful sketch!
You do NOT need to use a Great Impressions Stamp, but if you do...
you will be entered TWICE into the prize drawing!

Calendar Workshop - Completed Pages

We made it to another Friday!  Wahoo!
I posted a photo of the calendar workshop project earlier this week, and promised to post finished pages.
Since this is a photo-heavy post, I'll leave you with the photos!

Thanks for stopping by!
We had a great workshop - there were five ladies and myself. The building we were in is an old factory, and two of the heaters were down, so we worked our fingers to the bones, just to keep them from freezing and falling off!  Next time, I'll be packing....a space heater, that is!

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Patti J.

Just Me. Thinking of You!

Happy 1st Thursday of 2013!

Today is my first post as a Guest Designer for the Great Impressions Stamps Blog. I was thrilled to be invited to work with these talented ladies - what a wonderful way to start off the new year!
Great Impressions Stamps: F08, Dress-Up Annie, and D405, Just Me. Thinking of You, Copic Markers, My Mind's Eye Designer Papers, Flower Trim - Hobby Lobby, Polka Dot CS - Amuse, button from Grandma's button tin, Perfect Layers Rulers for beautiful matting (see sidebar for deets!)

I chose to work with Dress-Up Annie (F08), and adorable image.  This beautiful Thinking of You sentiment (D405) seemed perfect for her.  I am a Chemo Card Angel, and send off a card or package each week to a lady undergoing chemo treatments, and this will be in the mail to her tomorrow.

The image is colored with Copic Markers, and the DP is from My Mind's Eye, the Blush Collection.

I hope that you will stop by the Great Impressions Blog today, and leave me a little love there!

Here's hoping that 2013 is off to a great start for you!

Sneak Peek!

It's me again!

Thought I'd share a sneak peek of the calendar that we are creating in a workshop tomorrow.

Hope you like it!

Will be back after the workshop with photos of each page.
I might even have one to give away, depending on tomorrow's turnout!

AND.....

I'll be back Thursday morning with my very first Guest Designer post for Great Impressions Stamps!  Hope you'll stop by on Thursday, to see the SWEET image that I'm creating with!

Thanks for stopping by!  Hugs to all...

Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wow, seriously, where did 2012 go?
My mom always told me that the older I get, the faster time would go, and I think she was right!

I'm preparing today for a Calendar Workshop that I'm doing tomorrow...will post
the finished project after the workshop.

My time with Repeat Impressions is over, and I did not take on another term. Wendy and her husband, the owners, are wonderful, amazing, and generous people, and I feel like I have friends for life with the DT members that I worked with.  I have some family priorities that need my attention, and it's
time to think about those!

With that in mind, Repeat Impressions is looking to add another DT member!
If you are interested, head over to the blog, The House That Stamps Built
for full details on how to apply!

Happy New Year, my friends.
Thanks for stopping by!

Wishing you all of God's blessings for 2013.

Patti J.
